Ford's '08 Mock
Just for fun. I was looking back at Chad Ford's 2008 mock draft to see how he did compared to the real thing. LINK There are links on the side to his earlier mock drafts as well. He had the lottery closer in his 6.0 version than he did in the final version. In this one he did nail both the guys the Pacers wanted (although he had us grabbing Rush ourselves rather than moving down). Mainly, I found it interesting that he got the Pacer's targets right. I hope he's wrong about Blair this year though. Actually, he had us taking Augustin in every mock draft up till this last one (even though Augustin still projected to be available in his mock).

If we draft Blair I will officially have no faith in Larry Bird.

Blair is the only pick that I would be furious with. I see some potetial in every other player. I'd still have faith in Bird though - well, if he keeps Obie past this year I won't.
I love how Ford said Rush could be the next Joe Johnson though.

I'd be furious with a lot of picks. I don't want Lawson because of the DUI last year, I don't want Flynn because Grang33r (a poster on the Pacers board on here) is a huge Syracuse fan and says he is good in college but won't fit on an NBA team. I definitely don't want Terrence Williams, who ever picks him in the lottery is reaching pretty bad. I have a few guys I like in this draft but I have a TON of players I don't like.DGrangeRx33 wrote:Blair is the only pick that I would be furious with. I see some potetial in every other player. I think I'm leaning the other way. There are a ton of guys in this draft I really like. The ones I'm not so hot on though are ones that are supposed to go high. Not sold on Rubio, Hill, DeRozan, Holiday, and even Griffin to some extent. I think Thabeet will be a great shot blocker, but other than that I really question his potential to develop. I want to like Evans, but he's got a lot red flags. I really like Curry, but only if he can play the point (which I think he can, but I'm obviously not 100% on). I think Flynn should be pretty good, but I like Lawson better. Maynor should be solid. I don't really like wing players in this draft. Harden and Henderson should be OK. I love Terrence Williams as a rotation player based on his versatility and ability to play the point - if his shot develops he could be awesome. I also like Clark as a power forward prospect. Daye has huge upside, but I'm not a huge fan - he reminds me of Anthony Randolph from last year's draft. I really like Jennings and Mullens as high risk, high reward type guys. Both would have been straight out of a high school guys in the past. Not sure how Holiday is projecting so well, and Mullens doesn't. The same arguments for their lack of production can be made (misused, wrong system, out of position, etc.). Mullens' production was actually a fair amount better than Holiday's in my estimation, and he's big (which usually justifies taking a fair risk). I kinda like Hanbrough and Johnson as rotation PFs. And... Blair is probably too vertically challenged (among other red flags - knees, weight, etc.) to continue his success.

Hansbrough wouldn't surprise me but we might be able to trade down and still get him and Teague or Maynor. I have gone from not liking Johnson as a 4 to thinking he really is a big 3 who could be good.

As count posted, Ford's final mock draft, posted around 7pm on draft night, had the Pacers down really well. Had us picking Rush and Hibbert. Hopefully somebody can post it as soon as Ford posts it on espn. I think it's an insider page which i don't have. I'm pretty sure CDash is going to the draft party at Conseco.

Re: Ford's '08 Mock
Any of Holiday, Jennings, Evans, Curry, Clark or Flynn would suit me just fine in this draft

Shoot, it took Chad Ford up until 7pm on draft night...I had that pegged in our mock drafts on here! BOOM! Sadly, I wasn't the only one. I will do my best to post what I can from Ford on draft day, but as it gets closer to draft time, I'll probably be at the Fieldhouse.
