Which lottery teams would trade their pick for Barbosa?

Post#1 » by funlle » Tue Jun 23, 2009 1:34 am

Although I value Barbosa and he is on a "team friendly" contract, could he help us land a PG of the future? Considering that some teams are focused on shooting guards like Tyreke Evans, DeMar DeRozan or Gerald Henderson, would any of the teams ahead of us value Barbosa and one of our 2nd Round picks for their lottery pick. The Knicks may be out due to their desire to clear salary for next year. However, he would fit in well with Golden State. Not sure about how well he would fit with the Bucks.

I would love to leave this draft with either Brandon Jennings or J. Flynn in addition to Earl Clark. I feel our rebuilding has to begin now. Should Cleveland pursue Shaq and is willing to part with Delone West along with Wallace/Sasha, we would certainly have Barbosa's replacement (certainly not sure Cleveland would add West). We are stuck with JRich so we would be set at SG with JRich and West.

Is there any team that would bite on a trade of a lottery pick for Barbosa (picks 5 through 13)?

Maybe a deal with the Wizards, something like

Barbosa for Mike James and the #5 or even add the #14 if they need to

Only guys in this draft worth trading Barbosa for are Rubio and Griffin imo....he's a surefire torch off the bench.

Yeah what are you guys thinking about giving Barbosa away to trade 9 picks higher up? This draft is a pure crap shoot outside of Griffin. Barbosa is a proven young player with a solid contract. All of these rookies are unproven.

Barbosa for Griffin and Rubio or any top 5 pick??

Lol.

Look Barbosa is a good player, exceptional bench player too. But he isnt a franchise player. And top 5 lottery picks are usually high potential franchise players.

Chris Paul, Deron Williams, OJ Mayo, heck even Gilbert Arenas (pick second round).... Are twice the player Barbosa is. Barbosa is good and proven "good", but high lottery picks are potential (very likely) franchise defining players....

The only time a trade of a player like Barbosa for a lottery pick is maybe around the 10~15 pick and thats if the team is desperate for a player like Barbosa.

I was not suggesting Barbosa and the 14th to move up. Simply Barbosa and a 2nd rounder if we could get Jennings/Flynn. The draft is such a crap shoot and imagine that some teams would prefer a proven commodity in Barbosa. If we did a deal with Washington, we may have to take salary back, which I don't think Sarver would be willing to do unless we trade Shaq.

^he's not saying the other team should expect to pay that or that Barbosa is worth that, he means anything after those 2 is NOT worth Barbosa. A guy who's 26, on a great contract and already is a 15-18pt scorer...

You guys disgust me. No one other than griffin is guaranteed to be better than Barbosa in this draft. Even Rubio is still in the High Risk category.

Just watch how well Barbosa does this upcoming season and lets revisit this thread at the allstar break.

^exactly. Rubio has skills for sure, the others guys do also. But NOBODY can bring what Barbosa does this year or most likely the year after either...

I would however, look at something like NCollison + #3 for Barbosa + Tucker...

Jesus has there ever been more predicted movement AFTER the #1 pick? It could literally be a crapshoot

Can't wait haha

My post was a little confusing. Basically I mean unless we can add an additional top 3 pick, we should keep Barbosa. And that won't happen so I'm all for holding onto the brazilian blur.

double post! sweet.

Barbs is a solid bench player, but in a few years, I think there will be at least more than a handful of players better than he is. He is very one deminsional type of player, but I really like what he brings to this team. Also, I do not think we can get that high of pick for him.

if rubio and curry are off by the knicks pick i would like to see barbosa going to new york to play for mike dtoni again and we get the 8th pick to pick up johnny flynn and then the 14th pick we either get dejuan blair or earl clark and if this team isnt going anywhere we can trade nash but mostly likely not, but if we getr earl clark he is probably going to start if hill isnt resigned by the team and do not think that the suns will bring back barnes cause he sucks

Why wouldn't the Knicks give the #8 for JRich?
