I would love it, but I doubt the Hawks do this. Joe Johnson is one of the best young players in the league. Why would they trade him for a player on his last leg and a flawed PG?

I'd be for it if Andre Miller was signed here, but otherwise would pass.

I love Joe Johnson, and even though I think ATL turns down that trade, it's also a poor use of Allen's expiring contract and Rondo's value as a point guard.

This would be such a bad trade. Joe Johnson is better than Ray at this point, but Ray's still a very valuable high level player. Then you throw in Rondo to get Craig Claxton (who has been anything but Speedy the past few years) and, ugh.

Joe Johnson is 28 or 29. He's not exactly old, but he's not really a young player anymore either.

The flawed PG is better than any PG that Hawks have had in the last 20 years.. and is best friends with the Flawed PF.
However, the Hawks need to change their offense into an offense that Flows from the pG. JJ dominates the ball too much. Atlanta has so many athletes that this is a good and bad thing. Good in that JJ gets his and has great assist numbers and is a three time allstar. Bad in that this team should be an uptempo running team and is not. Therefore, they get stuck playing halfcourt sets with teams that have real Pgs and Real Cs.

It would mean a change in offensive philosophy for the Hawks. The Celtics would get a player that is twice as good as Allen. The big three would be stronger than it was with allen. JJ can also guard Lebron.

See what Hawks fans Are saying about this trade:

Most likely Speedy's about to be traded with Acie Law to Golden State for Crawford.

No way in hell I do this trade. Basically, you're trading our starting backcourt for a star who seems like he doesn't have that mental aspect of the game where he wants to be the best or who seems like he's one of those players who just plays instead of doing everything possible to win.

It'd be hard to trade Rondo for Johnson straight up.

Not a good deal for us. Joe is not that much better (not at all better in MY opinion) than Ray and is only a few years younger. It is a marginal upgrade if that. A deal like this is giving Rondo away. Lets remember that we still have him for one more year on rookie money and he is playing for his next contract.

I feel this board has been swept up in the rondo trade hype. Its like everyone got on the Rondo bandwagon and then crashed it in a ditch. Rondo deals only make sense to me if we get back a Amare, Jefferson or Bosh.
