CV for PHX if the GSW deal goes through

Post#1 » by SideSwipe » Mon Jun 29, 2009 6:00 pm

Would anyone be interested in going after CV if the deal with GSW goes through?

Nash/ Curry/ Dragic
Richardson/ Barbosa/ Buike
Hill/ Dudley/ Clark
Villanueva/ Wright/ Amundson
Biedrins/ RoLo

That would be a 3-point shooting phenomenon. CV's shooting could spread the floor to allow more space for a Nash and Beans pick and roll game. We spend MLE money on CV that we make up for in the savings we get for Pavlovic. Something like that. Anyone else think that CV would be a great 4 for us?

Boozer won't come for the MLE and he would not be as fast as CV, and is certainly nowhere near the shooter CV is. Defense is not great for either. Boozers low-post game is better, and would make us more well rounded, but how do we get him? If he opts out he will be a UFA, and we will have no money to get him.

On another note, if the GSW deal goes down, we can use Wallace to get Kirilenko, which would give us a good look:

Nash/ Curry/ Dragic
Richardson/ Barbosa
Hill/ Buike/ Dudley
Kirilenko/ Wright/ Amundson
Beans/ RoLo

He'd be an upgrade, but probably not worth the money.

so we get a bigger guy than Amare who can't block shots and is arguably a worse rebounder and shooter from everywhere outside of downtown?

PASS...start at the MLE with him...

I'd much rather target Millsap - someone who WILL do the hard work, is humble and can get better

Unfortunately, I think Utah will match just about any offer for Millsap IF Boozer opts out, and the offer isn't ridiculous, like $13m/year.

CV is officially a UFA but I really don't think we want him, unless he's a ridiculous bargain. Raps fans will recall that he's got a lot of talent but very lackadaisical - might bring it or might not, depending on the weather or any number of variables. Can't count on him being consistent.
Was he any different in MIlwaukee?

I'd rather have boozer too, but I don't think it is possible. CV we could probably get for a reasonable price, and with the way we're trying to save money, it's more probable that they will have sweet lou start... haha

But how do you target Millsapp?

Charlie V is an interesting achievable target... Not a perfect one, he's not a very good rebounder ( but Biedrins is ) and he's not a good shot blocker ( but Biedrins is ).

--- I'd imagine you contact his agent and make an offer. Jazz are kinda screwed right now as Boozer is not opting out. They have to pay him.

I thought Millsap was due for a raise - expiring second round contract? If they have to pay Boozer they have no $$$ to use for Millsap. At least that's how I understand it.
I been wrong before

btw, looks like MEM is going after DLee

man, they're going to be a skookum bunch

(occurs to me maybe 'skookum' is not a word you guys use; it's some native indian slang that pretty much means big, strong, tough, hardy; the big inlet or lake is the "skookumchuck")
