No surprise you guys want Gortat. Congrats if you get him; he'll give you 10+/10+ if he starts. Nyce replacement/backup for Yao next year and further.

Now, I make this tread because its being "speculated" that Orl is possibly interested in a sign & trade of Gortat for one of your PFs; specifically Landry or Hayes. 1) Do you think your GM would fly with this? 2) Can someone describe Landry and how you think he'd fit on our team, and in our starting lineup?

The Rockets are interested in Marcin Gortat being their starter, but are also well aware of the chemistry between Scola and Oberto. Oberto would be a solid back-up to Gortat and could help put the Rockets right back in the thick of the Western Conference Finals chase. The word is Orlando might consider a sign-and-trade for one of Houston's power forwards, and the Rockets have had Carl Landry and Chuck Hayes on the table at various times over the last year. Seems like something could happen there to help alleviate Houston's dire need at center.

It would be tough to do as Gortat would become a BYC player,meaning only half his contract is counted for trade purposes. But it is doable as...
Landry,Barry for Gortat(@ $5.5-6mil) and either Anthony Johnson or Ryan Anderson.
Johnson or Anderson get traded for the Houston $1.4mil TE from the Alston trade.
So it's Houston sending out $5mil in contracts and getting back $4mil+ in cap-value contracts.
Orlando sending out $5.5/6mil in contract and getting back $5mil and trading Johnson/Anderson for an equivalent TE.(Since Anderson is being traded by himself for the TE,he could be traded immediately.)
It would get reported as one trade,but in reality two trades done together to abide by CBA.

Even in the sign and trade scenario, Magics will be taking more salary. With them at the edge of Luxury Tax threshold, those salary will be doubled next year. And also mean Magics will not have any chance to resign Hedo. Tough choice for Magic.

Far over the salary cap, the Magic said they were willing to venture into the tax after making a surprising run to the NBA Finals this past season. Team President Bob Vander Weide said the club could be taxed between $5 million to $7 million and perhaps top out at $10 million. But re-signing Turkoglu alone would eat up most of that, and still leaving four players to sign.

"We will be in the tax," Smith said Monday.

The league tax threshold is expected to be about $69 million. The Magic's payroll is already around $68 million after acquiring Carter — who'll make $16.3 million this season and $17.3 million in 2010-11 — for shooting guard Courtney Lee, power forward Tony Battie and point guard Rafer Alston last Thursday.

with that said, I doubt Magic make this happen. definitely not giving up Anderson, and we need AJ as our lone backup PG. Guess this won't happen.

Magics have to say that but whether or not they will actually match is another issue. Depend if they can retain Hedo. If they did retain hedo, there will not be any money left for Gortat.
