Totally fine with getting rid of him, as long as we're not just like gifting him. I'd like to somehow package Najera/Swat, but I know I may be getting greedy. I really don't care what we get, I'm just looking to either get an expiring and a 2nd rounder in return or a player with a smaller buyout than Najera's and a 2nd in return. This also allows us to free up a roster spot.

i honestly am not ready to part with him... i think Swat like Few others have the ability to change the game, i believe his impact is that deep. i don't want to trade swat... i want him to be first big off the bench...

If he ever "gets it," I liken him to Chris Anderson. I don't think he's gonna be offensively gifted enough to be a starter, but I think he can be a solid role player finishing around the basket, hustling to every ball, won't break your back at the free throw line and playing solid defense where he has the ability to block/adjust shots. I'm fine with him being first off the bench. He's actually a decent teammate from everything I've read. You see it on TV too. He's also cheering on his running mates and looks like he's into the game and our team, I think he just hates our coaches and is a boardline mental patient at times off the court.

The problem is, when if ever that Sean finallys "gets it," will he still be in a Nets uniform. Nobody denies the kids talent, but it comes down to a business decision, not a basketball decision. If I can get something in return or help set myself up for a move down the road, I'm going to seriously consider it.

Real talk, with The Iron Fist (Yi Jianlian) as the Nets starting power forward why does the team need any big men off the bench? If Sean is capable of becoming a small forward in the mold of Kevin Durant I'm perfectly fine with keeping him though.

I'm gonna say no he can't. He can't handle the ball as well as that and isn't a strong enough shooter. His problem I think is a) the coaching staff and b) his agent or himself. One of them puts the idea in Sean's head that he's better than he is. He barely had an offensive game in college other than a dunk. He needs to understand his abilities, excel and them and just work enough of his weaknesses so they're not to be exploited on the court. I don't know why Sean wants to be more than Chris Anderson when he just can't. I think if we had a stronger coach (Like Jerry Sloan or Popovich...I know there aren't a lot of coaches like them, but they seems to make players "get it" faster what their role is) then he would be more productive. I hope if he's with us next season, Frank is nowhere near this team. Then I'll be able to make my final assessment of this kid.

I still am super high on this kid to an irrational level. I just keep it low key and try to sound realistic on this forum lol.

Of course he is available, but it makes no sense to just give him away. There are other players on the roster who have similar contracts and pretty clearly don't have much more than they are showing (Boone). If Williams does put it together then he'd be a nice shotblocker off the bench. Worth keeping around for the time being.

I think he is a great player to back up Brook I love his energy. He has great potential but I don't see him reaching it just because he tries to do too much in games. He needs to be a lil bit more patient or a better technique

Do you expect Sean Williams to play much next season? At all? Just curious for sim league reasons.

He's really a complete unknown because he is mentally unstable, literally. He might be doing well getting a steady 20 minutes a game for a month and then decide to destroy his neighbors front lawn over an argument about leaving empty garbage cans out a day late and wind up getting suspended and thrown back into the dog house and out of the rotation.

But you expect him to show up for training camp and have a fair chance at a spot in the rotation?

I'd say absolutely unless he gets traded. We are actually a little thin in the frontcourt or at least right at the average number of players and we aren't likely to be very good, so I think he will definitely get his shot.
Like I said though, even if he earns a big minute rotation spot, his ability to retain that role and those minutes lies solely in his ability to keep his head on straight and act right.

I don't really expect much from him. After a somewhat promosing rookie year he absolutely SUCKED last year. He couldn't do anything last year, even the ability that got him drafted in the first round in the forst place(blocking ability). Like VC4P said earlier, he's mentally unstable and you don';t know what the hell to expect from him coming into a game.

As one of the few members on this board that prefered boone over him last year, til this day I still do even though he also has a down year. Now that we have brook, Boone becomes somehwat irrelevant unless he accepts what his destined role is and become his backup.

I don't expect Sean's 4th year option to be picked up and hell, I don't even want them to.
