Post Press Conference Thoughts From Doc

Post#1 » by Gant » Thu Jul 9, 2009 9:51 pm

It was a very thorough job by CSNNE covering the Rasheed press conference.

A few items of note from an interview afterwards:

* Doc said Grant Hill has strong ties to Phoenix and made it sound like it's Phoenix that Boston has to beat out, not New York. Hill's decision will come "very soon."

Tanguay citing a league source: "The talks between the Celtics and Hill are still progressing."

* Doc thought Rasheed would be a great influence on Perkins the same way Garnett has been. He added that Perk will always be on the floor with a great player.

* Doc spoke about needing length and another shooter and addressing both with this one guy.

* Doc was practically salivating over the idea of the Rasheed, Garnett, Pierce, Ray, Rondo lineup. He said with Rasheed stretching the floor the one that will benefit most is Rondo. "No one will be able to help off Rondo." "It will make Rondo at times almost unguardable."

* When asked Doc said he didn't know who would start. He initially has thought Perkins would, but all that will sort itself out.

* Like Danny expressed earlier, Doc wants Big Baby back. He said it would be a shame to "watch him grow up before our eyes and have someone else cash in," then added, "Unfortunately that's the way the league (sometimes) works."

Thanks for that. I wasn't able to see the PC.

If there was anything interesting at the PC itself, please pass along.

Thanks Gant for the summary.

I'm dying to see a crunch time lineup of Rondo, Ray, Pierce, KG and Sheed. Everyone on the floor can hit a shot for us and Rondo has a total clear path to the lane.

I can't wait for the season to start!
