Wow, that is a fairly short length. I guess that it a pretty good thing. I thought it would be a year or two longer with a team option and a little more money. Overall a great move.

why so short? are there any options?

obviously i like it. memo was the reason behind more than a few of jazz's wins last year.

Does that make it line up with AK's contract? Or one year longer?
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Hmm . . . that is strange that he would agree to one so short.

One year longer. AK has 2 more years, and Memo now has 3 more years.

Jazz will have 10 million or more in expirings for the next 3 years. Pretty good. Solid signing. I wonder if the Jazz extending Memo says that they're either letting Boozer or Sap go. Am I reading too much into it?

Super poor judgement on the part of the Jazz. Ensured mediocrity for three more years.

And you are a fan of which team?

I agree, I would not have extended Memo until later in the season, or after the season. He was not a risk to leave, and we could have used him as an expiring if a sweet deal for Okafor or something came along.

And yes, even though I love Memo, we will be mediocre with him.

if im not mistaking, nba teams only have a certain ammount of time to extend a player because when ak signed his it was an extension as well and if he didnt sign it when he did he would have had to wait until the end of the season.

I'm happy 8-) Darn good move by KOC and the Jazz; classy attitude, as usual, by Okur.
If the Jazz were able to fight for a championship ever again, Memo deserves to be there.

So the Jazz are trading boozer. A reliable low post scorer and a great rebounder but a poor defender with the tendancy to stretch out injuries. They are trading him for cap space

They resign Okur for 10.5 mil per year. A one in 3 games long range bomber, marginal rebounder but a poor defender with a bad back.

It makes no sense to me. I know Boozer has things we dont like, (we were spoiled with Malone) But he is way better and a much bigger key to getting this team to a ring than Okur is. Jazz just overpaid another player.

10.5 mil for a player that scores well 1 in 3 games and plays zero defense. Yea for us?

I think KOC is trying to make money committements kind of Williams "compliant". Deron has player option for 2012-13, and since Jazz is building around him it doest make sense to try to commit big bucks no longer than that. Just MHO.

The best part about this deal is that it's only two years. I was very worried the Jazz would end up extending Okur out four years.
