M's trade for 3B Jack Hannahan

Post#1 » by TTown » Sun Jul 12, 2009 1:56 am

Ship AA P Justin Souza to Oakland. Hannahan is in the line-up tonight for the M's. Hannahan batted .193 with 1 HR and 8 RBIs in 52 games for Oak, before being sent down to AAA Sacramento.

Hannahan, Wilson, Cedeno, we seem to be amassing quite a collection of weak hitting infielders

We gave up a pitcher who was replaced by someone better we got in the Yuni deal.

Basically, he's a lefty defensive specialist 3b who we won't have to feel sorry about benching if Beltre comes back and we're still in the race.

That being said, he's not nearly as good as Beltre at 3rd, but he's no slouch. This is what we call a temporary fix. I'm pleased because that means we're more likely to use our trade pieces for a SS.

He's not great, but we didn't give up anything of any real value to get him and he's a better option at 3rd base than Woodward.

A double and a run four hours after being traded. Not a bad debut!
