Game 1: Friday, July 17th, 7:05 PM ET
Lucas French, LHP (1-0, 1.93) Vs. A.J. Burnett, RHP (8-4, 3.77)

Tigers: With both Justin Verlander and Edwin Jackson on the AL All-Star team and Rick Porcello on rest until next week, French gets the call for the Tigers' first game out of the break. Considering it'll take him to the homer haven of new Yankee Stadium, it's not exactly an easy task. But French's ability to stay cool under pressure is one reason he's up here in the first place. He held the Royals to a lone run over 6 1/3 innings in his last start on July 8 for his first Major League win.

Yankees: Burnett's wildness returned last Wednesday in Minneapolis, in the form of four walks and three wild pitches over 6 1/3 innings. But Burnett managed to limit the damage enough to hold the Twins to two runs, cashing in his fifth consecutive quality start. He will now flip ahead of CC Sabathia in the rotation, leading the Yankees out of the All-Star break so that Sabathia can enjoy an extra day of rest. Despite posting a 5.73 ERA against the Tigers last season, Burnett won both of his starts against them -- but has an 8.03 ERA against them for his career.

Game 2: Saturday, July 18th, 1:05 PM ET
Edwin Jackson, RHP (7-4, 2.52) Vs. TBA

Tigers: Either Jackson or Justin Verlander could get the call here, depending on how much either one pitches in Tuesday's All-Star Game. Considering Jackson has more rest, having last pitched on Friday with seven innings of one-run ball against Cleveland, he would seem to be the better candidate. He tossed six scoreless innings against the Yankees April 28 at Comerica Park, one of many solid outings in the first half that didn't earn him a win. He ended the first half with five straight quality starts, but won only one of them.

Game 3: Sunday, July 19th, 2:05 PM ET
Justin Verlander, RHP (10-4, 3.38) Vs. TBA

Tigers: Verlander could go either Saturday or Sunday, depending on how much he and teammate Edwin Jackson pitch in Tuesday's All-Star Game. Considering Verlander started the Tigers' last game before the break, he might use the extra day. He needed 116 pitches to blank the Indians for seven innings with eight strikeouts. The AL leader in strikeouts could use a few swings and misses or called strikes to keep the ball out of the homer-happy new Yankee Stadium. Verlander tossed seven scoreless innings against the Bronx Bombers with nine strikeouts on April 27 at Comerica Park.

French had another good outing, 5 IP 5 hits 2 earned runs. Has a 1.89 era. I like this kid. I expect him to stumble along the way, but I'd keep him in the rotation for awhile.

Joel lost us the game with a 3-run homerun given up in the 7th inning. He just didn't have it and Leyland just kept him in the game.

Zumaya sucks, he really does. He constantly puts people on and overthrows pitches, not a whole lot else.

Verlander pitched today... I wish Leyland would set a rotation and stick to it. Porcello hasn't pitched since July 6th and Verlander is pitching all over the place.

23 LOB as of the 5th inning for the series. Horrific hitting. Perfect example was Miggy right there...men on 1 and 3, 1 out. What does he do. Shallow pop out to the 2b. Than a strikeout with 2 out.
