Competition: CP3 to Houston

Post#1 » by Sports Arsenal » Sat Jul 18, 2009 2:44 am

Ok, not that I believe its a real possibility that we can land Paul, even with his latest comments, however, with his BYC status it makes it extremely difficult to land a possible trade scenario. Counting the ones that make ABSOLUTELY no sense for New Orleans. Try it out, see who can come up with the best trade that lands CP3 in Houston.

I thought a good starting point would be to clear some salary for them with a Peja+Chandler for T-Mac trade. They have been trying to get rid of Chandler and we need a C. Peja is overpaid but would fit well back in Ricks system.

Aaron would definitely have to go in any trade sending Paul here. Just my 2 cents.

If it can be done, I will be amazed

I think that the only hope that the Rockets could entertain in a deal involving McGrady & Paul would be if it was certain that McGrady would be out all season and insurance would cover his deal. That would give the Hornets a massive expiring contract, most of which George Shinn would not have to pay for.

That is operating under the assumption that the Hornets are so freaking desperate to save money next season that they'd be willing to trade their franchise for instant relief and future flexibility.

I also think that if a move like this would happen then the next move would be the Hornets out of New Orleans.

I understand how improbable it is...
I just want to see what possibilities financially would be available, and which one would be closest to satisfying both teams

Dream on. Only Memphis's GM would do something so stupid as to deal Chris Paul (I'm still pissed about them gift wrapping Pau Gasol to the Lady Lakers). Seeing as how next year will be tough anyway, let's just hold on to our players and let the big contracts expire. This way we'll have a lottery pick and cap room. Can you Imagine Morey with a high lotto pick and significant cap space? We'd be back in the hunt quicker than you might think. We just have to play the crappy cards that the basketball gods have dealt us!!!!
