Gay is the only one who I would really want. Howard is too old and has too many character concerns, and a Haywood/Jefferson front court would be terrible in the fast paced, running team that Kahn is apparently trying to build.

Also, Flynn will absolutely not start over Rubio if and when Rubio finally comes over.

Yeah i'd go with Gay, he might actually want to come here, and Howard wants to compete for a title now, plus he's always injured-not worth all the money he wants

I am a big proponent of signing Marvin. He's not the pure scorer Gay is, but he's better at everything else and he has a much better attitude. I think we could get him for a lower price than Gay too, if he signs his QO this year.

I think I'd rather build a half court team that can take advantage of fast break opportunities, I think that fits our current pernsonnel better too. And if we want to be a half court team, we have to upgrade the interior defense. Most of all, I think the Wolves need to be open minded when looking at what kind of players they want to fit with the team. I'm willing to look at both younger guys who fill needs or veteran mentor types who still have a little bit of game left. If this team wants to take the next step, it might help to have somebody who's been there. I'm also willing to look at getting multiple role players with our money. We almost have solid core of young guys, if we add a young wing at the top of next years draft, we might not need to spend big money on one player.

Haywood is actually pretty good at running the court and finishing the break. I think he'll rebound in a big way this year and jump out of our price range though

Trade for Josh Smith. Atlanta's been rumored to not be able to keep everyone and are a money-conscious team. I have a feeling they'd value Williams over Smith. They've played Smith out of position so that Williams can start. Anyways, I think they are a team we could deal with.

Start the offer with Ryan Gomes or Corey Brewer. Or maybe even both guys. A solid, versatile, young player who won't need to start. If you went with Brewer, its also a guy back in SEC territory (Grew up less than 300 miles from Atlanta). Then, add in one of the large expirings (probably Etan Thomas because he can play center). Then, I'd add in the Utah pick.

Gomes and/or Brewer / Etan Thomas / Utah 1st for Josh Smith? Would that be enough for Atlanta?

My guess is a trade at the deadline rather than a big time FA signing. I would love to get Smith or Williams or G.Wallace. Someone who can fix the SF spot. Then with the draft picks we do not use in the trade pick up Even Turner.

I personally have no idea, but I know the trade board and various posters on here have talked about how JSmith can not play the 3.

I agree with Rev on the trade scenario, otherwise Joe Johnson would be a nice target but I don't know how feasible he is. Haywood would be good. No to Howard.

I just hope that you guys don't snatch Anthony Morrow from us Warriors fans.

He'll be an RFA and a smart team will offer him $6M-$7M/yr. He will be one of the top shooters in the league for a long time to come and could become a very efficient 18 ppg guy on a team with a decent PG and a post scorer.

Wallace is too injury prone and is not in the age group Kahn wants.

Howard is not in the age group Kahn wants.

Smith would be a interesting, but I have my doubts that he's a SF.

Marvin is a good thought, but I feel like his best skills colide with Love and Al too much...

Gay is someone I could see Kahn going after. He would prolly flourish here with all the playmakers we have (Flynn, Rubio, Love). He has the skills to be great on both ends, perhaps he could pull a Carmelo.

Personally, I hope Philly flounders and we can sntach Iggy from them.

Its worth discussing, but I think its far mroe likely we'll trade the cap space to teams:

1. That want to make a 2010 free agent play
2. That want to rebuild
3. That want to get under a lux that may drop as much as $10 mil.

I wouldn't mind the Wolves taking a look at Tracy McGrady at the trade deadline if he is healthy at the time with the expiring contracts and perhaps the Bobcats owed draft pick.

I have long felt that a big part of the reason why he hasn't been the same player in Houston that he was in Orlando besides the injuries themselves is that he is clearly an opencourt player that has been stuck playing slowdown halfcourt basketball next to Yao Ming who he never really complimented.

Yes, he is reaching the tail end of his career now but i'd think Rubio would be just about the ideal PG to get the most out of him until he is in fact done.

Nobody is going to break the bank for the guy next summer because of his injury history but by showing him he is wanted here by trading for him he might actually be open to staying.

Kahn could be up front with him that he wants to keep him at the end of the season and ask to be allowed to match any offer he receives but offer 10.5% raises based on his "Bird Rights" to make the Wolves offer a little sweeter.
