I Was Banned From The General Board

I was banned by the mod miller31time because I started a thread about Allen Iverson was being offered a contract by Olympiacos. I gave 3 links, even one of them was from Yahoo. There was a member named malinhon or something like that was being rude and insulting and attacking me and I put him on my ignore list. Guess what? miller31time BANNED me.

I put this in the moderator forum

I know some of you guys here have said you appreciate my posts so can you help me with this by posting support for me in that thread? miller31time made it very clear in the pm he sent me that he can't wait to ban me from the site. I can't believe how out of line this is. I would really appreciate it if you guys helped me here. I am sure he is going to permanently ban me from the site as soon as he is allowed to.

I personally hope you don't get banned, so for starters, remove all these threads. You're essentially calling out the mod, which is NOT going to help. Change it to requesting a PM/contact from one of our mods or something, but do not publicly describe the situation (I know, it's a mess right now, since we can't even PM mods... you're essentially FORCED to do this, but that's a blatant violation of the TOS, which, imo, need to be updated to reflect the board's post-upgrade limitations).

After that, don't post on the GB. I've seen several good posters get banned for weird, seemingly innocuous things by posting there. Once, I thoroughly traced one guy's history for 10 pages (before the site "upgrade" killed history browsing) and couldn't find a single thing that warranted his getting waived, but it happened on the GB.

Dude, whether you think the mod is out of line or not, don't make it into a public debate. Calling people out (both mods and general posters) can lead to bad things.

do not publicly call out any mod

remove all these threads

"don't post on the GB" is a distant third.

You're free to do as you like, obviously, but I'd rather you check off that list so you don't get suspended/waived.

Yeah, maybe you feel like you're losing dignity or something, but if the situation is what you say, your choices are likely "suck it up" or "lose your account". I personally won't think any less of you for doing the smart thing and playing it a bit more quietly.

I too hope you won't get banned but theres a reason why some posters act so hostile towards you. You gotta tone down the you dont know as much as I do attitude, particularly please refrain from calling others idiots or boasting your general intellectual ability on a basketball forum. Also using smilies more often may help soften the hostility.

From the little bit I've read, you seem to be the scientist in this picture.

You continually do something that's gotten a poor response, except instead of licking your wounds and moving on, you're posting threads bashing mods, both as individuals and as a whole.

Look, I'm not up to date on everything that's transpired, but if you've had problems on the General Board, the Wolves board, and the Raptors board... the problem may be with how you're coming across. Basically, step back from the situation and stop doing the same damn thing that's getting you in trouble. Sorry, man, but this really shouldn't be that difficult.

That's a good way to get waived.

My honest advice: back off for a bit. If you're being treated hostilely, fairly OR unfairly, don't do whatever it is that keeps getting you in trouble! Look for other topics to talk about. Don't post about Euroleague (that seems to be the 'major offender', from what I've seen.) If you keep down this path, it's gonna bite your ass, sooner rather than later.

Also--calling out long-time, respected mods in a public manner is not helping your case.

I have sent 4 reports like that already and they were completely ignored.

Again... look at past trends to evaluate future outcomes. The first post doesn't seem to be your problem. The eighth, nineteenth, and thirtieth--all saying the same thing--do seem to be what's causing you grief.

Tone things down a bit. Do you REALLY feel like you'd still be under attack if you posted informative posts with links and no rhetoric/insults/complaints? If so, yeah, you're not gonna be around long. Nice knowing you.

I did not insult anyone. I did not complain about anyone. I was even told by miller31time that he banned me because I started a thread that caused OTHER MEMBERS to argue with each other. That's the reason he gave for the ban. And he did not ban the other members.

Just about every person on the forum should have been banned using this criteria. And this whole concept that you can't complain about the mods when they are improperly doing their job is odd. They are moderators. They either moderate properly or they need to be removed. Period.

This is very true. Reportedly the highest IQ of any NBA GM is the Rockets GM Daryl Morey. His IQ is 160. That's definitely genius level, but it's hardly by any stretch impressive. It's actually quite an indictment that teams that have billions at stake and only a 160 IQ is the highest in the league. And yeah he's not a former basketball player or coach.

^^^On top of that, a 160 IQ is extremely high, flatout genious level. This tool shed makes it sound like people with 160 IQ's grow on trees.

Well it's low compared to my IQ and plenty of other people's as well.

My IQ is 197. My mother's IQ is 197 and her father's IQ was 200. My father's IQ was 160.

My father was a rocket scientist. He is the one that designed the stealth system on the stealth bomber. My mother is a secretary (secretary is the highest IQ profession there is on average). My mother's father taught calculus at college at age 12. He was also a partner with JPL and Howard Hughes and helped to develop the rocket engine.

So this is where the 197 IQ reference comes from.
