Diop

Post#1 » by Olajuwon34 » Tue Jul 28, 2009 7:52 pm

Trading Okafor would appear to mean that LB is trusting Diop to shoulder a heavier load which being optimistic I would like to think he can handle. Not that Okafor was a bad defender but he was undersized with Chandler and Diop we will if nothing else have the best d at the 5 spot outside of Orlando. Heres to hoping Diop can develope some offense to go with that huge wingspan of his.

As a Knicks fan I think I have to dispute this claim.
We're still paying Eddy Curry.

Chandler's $11.4 million salary this past season was well earned when you consider his 13.44 PER and him playing in all of 45 games.

Yeah, like you implying Okafor is one of the most overpaid centers. One of the best rebounders. One of the best defenders. One of the best FG%. Usually one of the better shotblockers.

That's not overpaid. The "cheap" Hornets, who were happy to give Chandler away last season, were willing to take on Okafor's contract.

Guys get hurt. Didn't Mek get an ankle sprain once and miss a lot of a season? I realize fans get tied to players and a lot of them are now in the "anger" mode...but this is starting to get really ridiculous.

Regardless of your feelings, a small market team is going to be hard pressed being competitive while carrying a C earning 13-14 the last 3 years of his contract while only being strong on one side of the court. We've gotten out of that while still keeping the D that Mek provided.

NOLA also took on Peja's deal...guess they're still loving that? Shinn is such a master!

We need to keep a count of Diop's air balls at the FT line this year.

I think he'd be overpaid in the latter stages of his contract with us. With NOH and Paul maybe not. Playing with an All Star PG of his calibre ain't nothing to be sneezed at. Paul is flat out great. If Mek has any opportunity to shine it should be now.

The FO should have pushed that...maybe then we'd have gotten that pick like we should have in the first place.

Sadly it'd probably be easier to keep a count of the makes. 8-)
