OT: Living in Atlanta

Post#1 » by magee » Sun Aug 2, 2009 9:21 pm

I've been thinking about moving down to the ATL out of the friendly confines of the NW. For those who live there, can you give me a little insight into the city? Places to live? Rec ball? Job market? Women? I'm about as white as a polar bear, but I'd rather be in the minority down there. Any insight helps. Thanks y'all.

Moving from Oregon to Atlanta will be a culture shock for you.... Atlanta like every other city has the good and the bad.... It has some nice suburbs but seems like u are a single guy so suburb is out of the question..... Atlanta is home to headquarters of CNN, Coca Cola, Delta Airlines .... Depending on what u studied u might be able to land a job... but if i were u i would wait until the economy recovers a bit before I move down here.... Unless u already have a job offer or have tons of experience......

Why did u choose Atlanta over other cities ? Is there a particular reason ? Do u have friends or family ?

Weather is hot as hell and it dont rain much like its does in Oregon and Washington....

Perfect. That's what I'm looking for. I'd definitely want to live in the city for a couple years. NBA TV moved their studios down there. Figured if I'm gunning for something like that, might as well be in the same city. I know my chances right now are very small getting a job with them, but if I built up enough of a resume, I'll be okay in 6 or 7 years.

Just want something different. Figured I'd try and stack some cash for the move, establish residency and go back to school over at the University of Georgia. Atlanta has always intrigued me. Couldn't really tell you. I'll definitely miss the outdoors Oregon has to offer, but it's all good. I got family here and can always come back every now and again.

Good luck with NBA TV if you pursue it because I doubt they have a position for you unless you want to work for free. Not as desirable as it may seem.

A good forum to ask questions about Atlanta and Georgia is http://www.city-data.com/forum/atlanta/index4.html

That's funny, because I'm trying to flee to the Pacific NW...Wanna switch jobs?

I must warn you that mine sucks...and I'm about 3.5 hours from Atlanta. :)
