Kings - Knicks(Overweight{and overpaid} for Overpaid)
Kings deal: Udrih+ 4 million TPE
Knicks deal: Curry
Why for the Knicks: Save 8 million now (4 million + 4 million lux tax payment) and gain an added 4 million in the cap in the much needed 2010 year) and adds a PG for their depth need.
Why for the Kings: Pay me now, rather than later and adds a Center for their depth need.
Salary ramifications:
Knicks - Udrih 4 years @ 26.5 million - 4 million lux tax payment = 22.5 million total cost.
Kings - Curry 2 years 22.75 million
So the money is roughly the same, it's just pay now, vs. pay me later while filling some team needs for each team.

As much as it pains me to say this, I would consider this.
One way that this would make a lot of sense is if the Kings could also bring in Ramon Sessions, which is a little bit more complicated if the cap space is eathen up by Curry.

The Knicks should do this. They could use another PG, and the savings in 2010 are nice too.
Maybe D'Antoni can make Beno look good enough to scam some other team into trading expirings for him.

This is the first Curry trade I've seen that actually makes sense for both teams. Nice job, Smills91

As bad as Curry has been, the Kings really could use him for depth at the center position. But, if the Kings traded Beno, who would back up Evans?

We have Sergio ans we could look at a SnT for sessions then OR just re-sign B-Jax or J-Will or other to the vet min.

The Kings' rookies would be worn out bringing all the doughnuts for Curry and May.

HAHAHAHA
I think this would be alright. I would like to see the kings possibly get a second rounder or some sort of sweetener... Make that artificial sweetener so Curry doesn't develop diabetes.

Hawes would be in Doughnut rehab by mid-december with those 2 influences in town.

A further exchange of Kenny Thomas for Chris Duhon could be added to accommodate that.

If that trade happens then Daniel Shapiro (Kings S&C coach) will be a busy man making Curry lose weight and May to keep it off.

I don't think NY would go all in on a 2010 or bust. The last 2 years @ 14mil kills it.
Your Beno must really suck if your trying for just Curry. The money you save you pay back at the end. This is a I T move taking on longer deal of guy that suck.
I would take Curry sucking for 2yrs over Beno sucking for 4 to 5 years.

The thing is, there's a better chance of Beno bouncing back and having a semi productive season than Curry, especially if Beno is playing in NY's system. It's not like Beno didn't play at all last season...he DID average 11ppg/4.7 apg. Meanwhile, Curry only played in THREE games last year (even Kenny Thomas played in more games than he did!) and now his off court troubles have made his trade value even worse. Besides, after Curry's contract is over, Beno will only have 2 more years left and might be a decent contract to trade.

More importantly (as I see it), when Beno was put in a better position after the Salmons/Miller trade, and proved that in a different circumstance, he could get better, as his assist/TO went from very bad to quite respectable (around 3/1).

Like I said before,Thats a Isiah Thomas move. Bring in someone on a deal that sucks,& hope it
works out.
Why hope for some good in 2yrs, just be done with it. Like pulling a tooth,do it quick & get
it over with.

No an Isiah move is to take someone who sucks, with a contract that has both MORE YEARS and MORE money owed to him.
THis deal does NONE of that.

Actually, if you look at his history, an Isiah move is to trade a shorter contract for a longer one, either to get more talent or additional compensation (say, draft picks). He usually got the most talented player in the deal; the problem was that he completely ignored things like character, work ethic and team construction.
The other problem was that he was so concerned with talent that he just kept piling contract on top of contract, and it's taken years for the franchise to get out of that financial hell. So in that regard, this kind of is an Isiah move...the Knicks may win on productivity but will be stuck with the contract of a mediocre player for years.

Re: Kings - Knicks(Overweight{and overpaid} for Overpaid)
Everyone is ignoring the biggest problem with this trade, you can't combine a TPE and a player to equal a players salary in trade, you can only use them as a stand alone.

How bout Kenny Thomas/Beno Udrih for Eddie Curry/Chris Duhon?
