Re: ESPN reporting that we signed Rambis.
great choice by Kahn. Can this guy do anything that I don't agree with? given Kahn's comments re: installing an up-tempo offense, looks like Rambis will be bringing showtime to MIN...

Re: ESPN reporting that we signed Rambis.
The Minnesota Timberwolves and Kurt Rambis have reached terms on a deal that will install Rambis as the Wolves' new head coach, according to NBA coaching sources.
Sources told ESPN.com that the Wolves are planning a Tuesday news conference to introduce Rambis as the replacement to Kevin McHale.
Long considered a potential heir apparent to Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson, Rambis has been lured away from Jackson's staff by a four-year deal believed to be worth in excess of $8 million.

Andrew D. Bernstein/NBAE/Getty ImagesKurt Rambis was a Lakers assistant for 10 seasons and coached the Lakers during the lockout-shortened 1999 season.
After turning down the Sacramento Kings' job during the NBA Finals, Rambis was chosen by new Minnesota president David Kahn from a group of finalists that also featured ESPN analyst Mark Jackson and Houston Rockets assistant coach Elston Turner.
Kahn interviewed more than a dozen candidates in a deliberate search that began after the NBA Draft in late June.
The Los Angeles Times first reported Wednesday that Rambis traveled to the Twin Cities to meet with a Wolves contingent that included owner Glen Taylor, which appeared to signal that the 51-year-old was the choice to fill the league's only remaining coaching vacancy.
Minnesota hired Kahn in May after a 24-58 season and a protracted search for a new front-office chief that focused initially on San Antonio's Dennis Lindsey and Portland's Tom Penn.
Kahn has since been unafraid to take risks and took his time with big decisions, first announcing that he would put off the coaching search until after the draft and then selecting point guards Jonny Flynn and Ricky Rubio with the fifth and sixth overall picks.
McHale ended a nearly 15-year association with the franchise in June when -- despite the support of franchise cornerstones Al Jefferson and Kevin Love -- he declined to return as coach after being offered only a one-year contract to stay.
Unforgettably clotheslined by McHale in Game 4 of the Celtics-Lakers championship series in 1984, Rambis was the only Wolves finalist with NBA head coaching experience. Rambis coached the Lakers for the bulk of the lockout-shortened 1999 season, posted a 24-13 record before Jackson arrived for his first stint with the Lakers.

Rambis is going to be a great coach.
I wanted him to succeed Phil Jackson but I'm a wolves fan too so this is great, glad to see another Laker connection with the wolves after McHale ran the franchise into the ground and traded KG to my least favorite team in the league.

Meh, I would've preferred Jackson over Rambis. But any coach is better than no coach. So I guess this a good thing.

This move directly created another job offer for me, so I can't hate it.

No way, why would we want an unexperienced coach coming in to lead our troops.
As a somewhat awkward example, would you want the ShamWow guy to be in your house helping you use your SlapChop? Maybe for the first day or two, but after that it may get a bit frustrating. Why? He doesn't really know a lot about how to use the product and every feature needed to best utilize it to suit your family's individual needs. He only knows enough to sell them.
Similarly, Mark Jackson doesn't really know enough about the ins and outs about coaching as a career, he just knows enough about the coaches, players, and basketball in general to be able to commentate the games and "sell" the games to the fans.
(Not only that, but both of them would just get annoying to listen to after a week or so.)

ok, I'll justify it by remembering 2 of the great coaches were hustle bit players in the NBA in Phil Jackson and Pat RIley.
