Hello, guys!
I was taking a look at Carroll's stats and realized that before he was traded to the Mavs he used to play 20/25 MPG in Charlotte, but he's completely useless in Dallas right now. So I ask you: would he be useful or have playing time in Carlotte today?
My second question is what would you ask for if Felton go away in a S&T?
Finally, would you do this trade?
Charlotte in: Carroll, Buckner, Barea and cash (DAL) and Speights (PHI)
Dallas in: Dalembert (PHI)
Philadelphia in: Diop, Felton (CHA) and Jawai (DAL)
Thanks for your answers and help!

Re: 3 questions
Absolutely not. Carroll getting the contract he did was another mistake by the FO, and trading to reobtain him would be yet another. Not only do we send out Felton but Diop as well. That leaves no banger down low for our team. Pass. Big Pass.

Re: 3 questions
carroll is what he is... he's a good shooter, he's scrappy and smart. he's a better defender than he gets credit for. he was in a bad slump last year and we also had jason richardson and adam morrison who were 3pt shooters. we had to get some diversity at sg. now we have raja and henderson, so carroll would be a better fit this season.
the trade is meh... we get rid of diops contract and get back a decent young big. barea is a solid backup. i dont love it or hate it. i'd rather have felton and diop, but if felton was hellbent on leaving, we could do worse i guess.

Re: 3 questions
Once upon a time Carrol was a decent player here. Whether that changed because he got a big contract or because Larry Brown destroyed his confidence is a mystery.
Without looking at contract numbers, I would do the trade. Speights is gonna be a really nice player.
Felton > Barea
Speights >>> Diop

Yeah Speights would be a real nice addition.

Re: 3 questions
Speights is pretty good, we could do worse and if Felton is S&T'd it prolly will end up being worse than this scenareo.

Matt Carroll's contract is absurd and I am glad we are rid of it.

S&Ts for a player you can't agree with terms on are not always talent for talent exchanges so who knows?

I'm with E4, I don't really know the contract situations there, but I think we're getting the better end of it talent-wise. Philly would never go for it.

Too bad we don't live in a world where there are no contracts.

Re: 3 questions
Well lets see. We'd shed Diop's contract, which is quite the albatross and is 6-7m over the next 4 years. Felton doesn't have a long-term deal, but he'll be earning 5.5m next year and would expect the same or more if we did extend him.
Carroll is on the hook for 4.5 next year down to 3.5 over the next 4. Barea makes less than 2 over the next 2 years, not sure how much he would want after that. Buckner has a $1m buyout, which we would almost certainly exercise. Speights is on his rookie deal, meaning we'd have him for cheap for the next 4 years.
Honestly that situation might be preferable from a cap perspective, especially down the line when we're paying Diop 7m and could be paying Carroll 3.5.

Re: 3 questions
Well, some of you perceived that the main idea of this trade was to swap Diop's for Carroll's contract while getting a young talent.
Once I got some "yes" and "no" from you, I think that could work, although I don't know if the Sixers would really let Speights go for Felton.
Thanks for your answers, guys. Except for doc.end, who is probably 8.

Re: 3 questions
Carrol--------$4,700,000-------$4,300,000----$3,900,000---$3,500,000
Buckner-----$4,080,916-------$4,277,777
Barea---------$1,657,500-------$1,815,000
Speights-----$1,685,280-------$1,773,960----$2,721,255---$3,823,363
for
Felton(a guess)-$5,000,000--$5,300,000----$5,600,000---6,000,000
Diop ---------------$6,031,800--$6,478,600----$6,925,400---$7,372,200
Looking at the contracts I like it even more, we are saving a bunch of money in the last two years. Carrol is overpaid but Diop getting 7mill a year in 2013 is just ridiculous.
I wouldn't do it if I was Philly though.....

Re: 3 questions
Wow, I didn't even realize Carroll's contract declined like that while Diops rose to 7.3m. Why did we go out of our way to acquire such bush league contracts?
