Miami/GSW (SJax/Haslem)

Post#1 » by Hallstar » Sat Aug 29, 2009 1:30 am

Sjax /Claxton for Haslem/Jones/Wright

Miami gets a starting sf and backup pg(limited minutes reduce injury risk) while further cleaning up the wings.

GS gets a backup pf and an athletic wing who's best games have come in that type of offense. Jones (if cut) gets paid 2 mil over the next couple years..basically small penalty for taking on SJax extra years.

Riley said he would have been interested in the Richard Jefferson trade, so there are limits to the 2010 commitment and sending out Jones makes this a roughly equivalent take on to Odom., so there's still 2010 cap.

Riley said he'd have been willing to trade for RJ if Wade had signed an extension. Wade has not signed an extension. This trade is dead in the water...

Miami would be silly to trade away 2010 cap spce before knowing where Wade stands.

The cap space is valuable if Wade resigns, but it is EVEN MORE imperative he thinks about walking.

Wade won't be the 1st to sign next year either.

We're going to be in August 2010 saying we don't make any moves because Wade hasn't signed?

So what about Odom? Wade didn't promise to sign an extension if Odom came

Dumb. Odom was going to be here for the MLE. He wasn't going to cost us $8 million next season, and his presence was going to drastically improve the team. S-Jax doesn't do that IMO because he costs us Haslem and Jones, and he costs more than Odom would cost.

Their are moves to make and moves not to make. This is one not to make...

Dumb my ass

we're dumping Jones salary

8-2 =6, That's Odom. Nobody is giving you an expiring for Jones.

How many sf's does a team need?

Sjax/Richardson/Cook/Diawara = enough sf minutes. We're OVERLOADED at the position and don't have a nba quality starter.

Beasley gets to takeover the starting pf job

we also cut the tax bill

tell me why Odom drastically improves the team and Jackson does not

And we get a lesser player than Odom who is less versatile and doesn't do for us what Odom would have, which is provide us with another creator. Great, we've got a guy who can shoot and score 20 points in Golden State's system. Big whoop. Who can't?

On top of that, unlike with Odom, we lose both Haslem and Jones, who'd have been very useful in terms of depth.

Not how I want to spend that money, personally, but to each their own. I'm not a fan of Stephen Jackson's. I wouldn't take him for free...

James Jones contract for next season is guaranteed only for $2m. So the difference of SJax salaries and $2m is the amount you deduct with our cap space next year.

The Heat already said that they want to be true with their plans for 2010 and the cap space. Miami is willing to cut to their cap space next year for players like Odom whom they did try hard. But SJax is not Odom's caliber and Miami will not cut some of their cap space for him.

Yes to this deal as well... Jones is a great spot shooter and would do well here in our system, and Haslem would play PF/C as a guy who can rebound and hit a midrange jumper.

Miami would have to be pretty sure that they were contending to make this deal though... I don't think they are that close.

Well,Odum is a PF and Jackson is a G/F. Frankly it seems Jackson is more versatile. Odum does not do SF much anymore. Didn't Odum re-up with the Lakers? Jack did have about 7 ppg more and double the assists.

You don't want to sacrifice space? cool, but I don't know where this SJax isn't Odom's caliber stuff is coming from. He's been on 4 playoff teams in 9 years, LO's been on 5 in 10, is close to the playmaker Odom is, and better offensively and defensively. Lamar is a PF something we have alot of, he was tried at sf and failed in LA, he has nowhere near the quickness anymore.

They're atleast equal..Let's not overrate Odom to being some elite guy because we like him.

We have a million sfs and no starter.

I don't think S-Jax is a guy we want starting for us. I don't think we want him anywhere near our team. This is a fool who got into one of the most disgusting brawls in NBA history, and rather than just shutting up and playing, he's now got to demand a trade? Does he really think our memories are this short? Seriously, dude has big brass balls and no brain...

Yeah he only had to play 10 more minutes each game and take 8 more shots per game to do that.

And double the turnovers.

talent always matters in this league and Riley is the last one on the "high character" train. Artest played a bigger role in that "disgusting brawl" and he would be in Miami if Riley ever got a chance

edit-

Hell why am I even arguing this? JERMAINE O'NEAL is on the Heat
