Ugh - Another late game blown lead

Post#1 » by Kevin Willis » Tue Sep 15, 2009 12:57 pm

Is anyone concerned about our pitching now for next year? It was suppose to be our strongest point and we keep blowing leads. Last night was very painful to watch.

I also think Cito overmanaged his pitchers last night but if they won he would've looked great. I think our pitchers are just not good enough right now.

Yeah I thought Frasor was the one guy in the bullpen we could count on and now who knows, although Scutaro didn't do him any favours.

Starting pitching shouldnt be an issue next year even if we trade Halladay but our bullpen is amongst one of the worst in the league at this point with little to look forward to in the future. Guys that I thought we be keys cogs in the pen, like Downs, League, and Carlson have all been more than dissapointing.

Cito does make some questionable choices in regards to pitching and that includes sometimes puting in too many pitchers but my main complaint is he goes to the pen way too soon sometimes, he even admitted it during Interleague but he blamed it on the format.

To be fair, Frasor is now 17/20 in save situations. He's been pretty good for the most part; he's no Mo Rivera, but he's still alright. And yeah, we definitely go to the pen too quickly a lot of the time, and often uses too many of them.
