Hey everyone I have a related question - sorry to hijack the thread. I just bought an awesome computer and for the first tiem in many many years will have a system I expect to be able to perform liek top-notch console systems for gaming. Does anyone play the NBA 2K series for PCs? If so is it worth it, and does it compare to console versions like XBox 360 and PS3. If it matters my new system has 8GB of RAM and a 1 GB GeForce video card - I'm hoping those specs will do a good job.

Just get an Xbox 360 wired controller, and it'll be exactly the same.

Plus, it's cheap.

Awesome so it will play nice with stunning graphics and movement?

Yeah I had seen that it was cheap and at first that concerned me that it wouldn't be as good but then I figured it must just be because the software company doesn't have to pay the console maker a slice fo the pie. That's my assumption at least.

Realistically nowadays, it doesnt even matter what your initial rating is. They update rosters and stats daily so the ratings move accordingly.

I remember Rose last year started off at an 80, by the end of the month on Nov he was as high as an 89 which was tied for best pg in the league. He ended up settling at 85 I believe.

Regardig the actual threads purpose, those ratings seem mostly remarkably similar to how I'd rate those players for the most part (obviously with Ben Gordon a little higher!), so I'd say they did a good job.

Also, one more question - it's consensus now that the 2K series is better than NBA Live, right?

I don't think it's too far off, frankly. I mean he destroyed Rose over a 7 game series.

Um... not really

I can't believe how much people are overrating him based on one (and a half) playoff series.

Huh, really? So according to Hollinger, Rondo is suppose to be the best Defensive PG in the league and we all know Rose hasn't developed Defensively but yet Rose scored on Rondo at will and Rondo did score on Rose but Rose has no D. So to say he destroyed him, ummm yeah, you're way off. I saw these ratings and Rondo's rating was definitely BS to me, especially if he's the 10th best in the league. Sorry but i dont put him over bosh, jefferson, Amare, Billups, etc. I do like how the ratings are more realistic but Rondos rating is too overhyped. I wonder if 2k has a lot of boston fans as developers because Rondo is obviously overrated and KG over Duncan? Really? Especially after coming off surgery.

Let's not forget that Rondo couldn't stop Rose either with a better defense behind him. Although Rondo was better at slowing Rose down than vice-a-versa. Do you see the way our Bulls play pick-n-roll defense, it's shameful.

KG is, always was, and more than likely always will be BETTER THAN DUNCAN...

I disagree with alot of they're ratings, but in terms of Rondo, you have to realize he's ranked so high because he pretty much averaged a tripple double and carried a team with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen on it in the last memory of him. And how can anyone complain about Rondo's rank as top 10 when he's tied with Brandon Roy? What about him?

I can't see how Dwight is only an 89, Artest is only 80, D.Harris over Billips?

But my biggest concern and I can't understand for the life of me how 2K or any other human being with eyes can possibly still rank Kobe over D. WADE!

Kobe's the only superstar that doesn't even have to play hard to win anymore.

Man, i hate to do it, but I'm going to have to bust out some stats here because people have a very selective memory of that series, and especially of Rose's performance IMO:

For the series:
Rondo
19.4 ppg 2.7 spg 11.6 apg 9.3 rpg 2.14 tpg 3.40 fpg 45.4% FG-2 games out of 7 with under 19 points - both over 11 assists - one a comfortable win and the other a 19 assist performance in a one point loss

Rose
19.7 ppg 0.6 spg 6.4 apg 6.3 rpg 5.00 tpg 3.60 fpg 49.2% FG -4 games out of 7 with under 19 points - all losses - no other noteworthy numbers in those games

Oh yeah, another big stat for the series:

Rondo
series won - 1, series lost 0

Rose
series won - 0, series lost 1

Rondo killed Rose. There was no comparison. Rose played great in game one and so that's all most Bulls fans saw. I saw flashed of greatness from Rose, which I'm thrilled about. I saw Rondo play at an absolutely elite all-around level unseen by me in any player his age since Lebron James. I do believe Rose will be better than Rondo soon enough, but he's not now, and that's a damn fact if I've ever known one.

Rondo's stats didnt happen because Rose was the only one playing bad defense. Vinny encourages Rose to get out on the break, so no one is able to box out Rondo, thats a product of the system we run. Rondo seemed to get about the same amount of defensive rebounds he normally gets, but his increase seems to be on the offensive end (dont have time to look at stats now).

Our bigs play terrible pick and roll defense and Rondo shredded the bigs just as much as he shredded rose. the way we switched every pick, is not something successful defensive teams do. Our defensive system is nowhere as good as the Celtics, another contributing factor to the rondo's success. The defense rondo faced is much easier to attack. The way the rules are today, it's hard to defend anybody one on one, its all about team defense.

the celtics best lineup and most used, everybody was a threat in some way. With the Bulls, there was always at least one player without a go to move or jumpshot (tyrus and noah). Rondo had big baby (killed with the j) and perkins (killed with his size)

Rondo is also on a team of good no dribble shoot and one move and shoot guys, its easy to get assists that way. Pass to Allen and he shoots, pass to Gordon he dribbles , he hesitates, steps back and then shoots ( no assisst for Rose). Pass to Perkins two dribbles and hook shot, pass to noah or tyrus...nothing. Granted, Rondo is better at penetrating and collapsing the defense for the sake of passing, once derrick's in the paint he's better at scoring (which is not a bad thing, it will set him apart from other pg's once he develops that inside dish game).
