BOS-MIN
BOS GETS: Damian Wilkins ($3.63)
MIN GETS: Brian Scalabrine + Bill Walker ($4.15)
BOS gets a more win-now player, a roster spot, and saves a mil with the lux.
MIN gets Bill Walker, a highly acclaimed second rounder from last year. Walker just reinjured his knee, and is out 6-8 weeks. He never made good attempting to beat out Tony Allen last year for many swingman minutes.

Eh, couldn't hurt I guess. walker has some potential and Wilkins isn't gonna be playing. Scal can replace Madsen for cheerleading.

Walker does nothing for me and I do not want to keep bringing in these crap prospects that we will just cut this summer.

Re: BOS-MIN
lateral move with us ending up with more players than we started?? Walker doesn't do much for me either. Gomes is a better option than Walker and is less injury prone. Wilkins will expire at the end of the year and fill in maybe a handful of minutes should someone stumble among Brewer/Pavlov/Ellington.

Re: BOS-MIN
I'd rather do Tony Allen and JR Giddens.
Scalabrine had 3 concussions last year. It is easier for him to get them again.
If he does he's out for the year.
Walker has a history of knee problems.
Tony and JR could catch fire with some playing time and be worth resigning next year.
Tony can play good defense and can drive to the hoop.
JR is a good shooter.
We could use more of the later especially.

Allen is dumber than a box of rocks tho. I would love JR Giddens. Kid is a freak of an athlete.

Did I enter some parallel universe where JR Giddens learned to shoot? Last I checked he was 8/29 from 3 last season in the D-League and never posted higher than 33% from the shorter college line. He's a freak athlete slasher/post wing.

I only wanted Walker when it looked like we were getting Mayo. As a fan I would like this, but from the perspective of the FO there isn't really any reason to do this.

Re: BOS-MIN
My thinking was that there is almost no chance that Damian Wilkins is on the team next year. While Bill Walker is also a longshot, he's young and athletic, and maybe has a chance to put something encouraging together. In any case, I think Walker has used up his chances in BOS, even if they weren't a contender that could use something more reliable. Walker has a nice contract .. two more years, neither over $1 mil, and neither are guaranteed if he's waived by July 2010.
I don't know if they'd offer the same deal for JR Giddens.

Giddens shot 41% from the 3 point line his first year at Kansas. [He shot 5.5 3 pointers PER GAME over 33 games.] He did go down from there with his off court problems - got into a bar fight and had to transfer to New Mexico. He averaged about 35% for his college career, not bad but not awful either. But I did think it was higher.
He hardly played last year so I never saw him in the NBA, and I'm assuming you didn't either.
Tony Allen is also considered to be a great athlete. He has had a couple of knee operations but did come back from those. He was doing high flying dunks again last season before he hurt his hand which kept him out for a while.
The Celtics were trying to trade Tony and JR late in the summer for Marquise Daniels but couldn't work out a 3 way trade.
they never tried to trade walker. They wanted more depth at SF.

My team played his 4 times last year, I saw him plenty.

Re: BOS-MIN
Giddens played a total of about 7 minutes in the NBA last year.
Doc Rivers doesn't like playing young players.
Guess you could have seen him in the development league.
But you could also have seen him in college when he shot 41% for Kansas, shooting 5.5 three pointers per game...lol..

1. That was 6 years ago. And Corey Brewer shot 44% from 3 for Florida his freshman year. People change.
2. You shoot 3s from 4 feet closer in college than the NBA. (Well, now its 3 feet, but it was 4 when Giddens played).

Re: BOS-MIN
I keep close track of Boston [the KG thing].
His overall college shooting percentage was in the mid-30's, which was a little lower than I thought, but still respectable.
[Again, when he shot 41%, he was shooting almost 6 three pointers per game. It wasn't a fluke. He then had the bar fight, thirty stiches, and basically had to leave kansas. Had to sit out a year due to the transfer. Had few players surrounding him in New Mexico his years there. Then becomes an NBA rookie who doesn't play because Doc Rivers doesn't "do" rookies]
Again, I haven't had an opportunity to see him in games [he only played 7 minutes in the NBA last season].
Even in the NBADL he shot in the mid-30's. So lets just say he's a mid-30's three point shooter with the potential for more based on his first year.
Not as good as I originally thought, but not bad either.
His RSCI coming out of high school was 17 [in Lebron's year which was a great year, chris Paul, Luol Deng, Kendrick Perkins, Charlie Villenueva etc.]
I'd trade Wilkins for Tony Allen and Giddens, but thats me.

27.6% from NBA three in the D-League. His last 3 years in college the highest he ever shot from three was 33%. Which is below the NBA average from a shorter line. Not to mention he didn't even reach 60% from the free throw line either of his two years at New Mexico, and shot around 68% last year in the D-League. None of this data speaks to the type of player who is even an average shooter right now. If you want to base his shooting on one season that happened over 5 years ago, knock yourself out.

Re: BOS-MIN
Guess I"d still rather have Giddens than Walker, who's has had major knee surgery and had another torn meniscus a couple of days ago. [Surgery day before yesterday.] Two knee surgeries in two years on the same knee.
Thats not a guy I want to try to make part of our young developing team.
I'd rather have a guy with a better chance of playing in 2011, the year I'm hoping we make big noise in the playoffs.
