seems he continues to be hurt..........

But in a surprising development Monday, Al Jefferson did not practice because of a sore Achilles' tendon that caused him to play less than six minutes in the second half Saturday at Milwaukee.
Jefferson, who missed the final 32 games last season after surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament, faces the unknown.

Some people just can't seem to get healthy...we got 34 year old Ray Allen, missing 2-3 games a season, and we got the mid 20's people like TA and Big Al, who can't seem to miss less than 10 games a year... :dontknow:

it really is a shame big al is a class act. hoepfully he gets healthy for the start of the season... it will be interesting 5 years down the road how we look back at this kg trade and think who got the better deal? right now the celtics did hands down but who knows big al might emerge as a healthy superstar after these knee achilles problems surpass

Things like this were a silent concern when he hurt his ankle. But it appeared taping them resolved that issue.

This is a result of his serious injury last year?

Side note, so far for KG and AL's tenures with BOS and MINN I think they've both played about the same amount of games. I'd like to see that stat a couple years from now.

Doesn't matter if Al emerges as a healthy superstar or not. We got the championship we wanted. Until Al leads his team to a championship, there's no debate.

I hate that. Besides our own team, the Minnesota frontcourt was one of the things I looked forward most going into the new season.

injury after injury after injury.

Here's one player who was nasty. He had a natural gift given to him but he also couldn't stay healthy and now he's a shell of the player he was and he's only 30. I'm talking about Tracy McGrady. Have you guys seen him the floor the last two years? He looks and moves like a 40 year old out there. All those injuries have come back to bite him in the @ss. Most player in there 30's who are still playing at an elite level is because they didn't many injuries nagging them early on in their careers.

Our best Celtic ever...Larry Bird retired at age 35/36 but he struggled to play even 80 games after the 86 season.

86-87 BOS 74
87-88 BOS 76
88-89 BOS 6
89-90 BOS 75
90-91 BOS 60
91-92 BOS 45

He was still very efficient because he was a marksman shooter but you could see his decline in athleticism at age 29/30. Now he didn't have much athleticism to start with but he had enough to get his job done. The same Tom Brady has enough athletecism to get his job done. Once Larry satarted to lose that......it was over. In terms of his agility not game because larry could shot lights out even he had to crawl during games.

I hope the best for big AL but these injuries are going to start to weigh him down in about 3 to 4 years.

Yes of course right now there is no debate. i am just saying if a healthy big al emerges and somehow that twovles team can be a perennial contender than what we would think 5 years down the road...

I was wondering a couple threads back after they got rambis, if they were going to start using the triangle. I was hoping the triangle would unleash a shaq like al, but not so apparently. Hopefully he comes through better.

Injuries seem to be largely genetics. Some guys have the genes to play well - and others are just injury prone. Raef Lafrenz is another guy who fell apart.

With regards to Bird and McHale.. Yup. Even "finesse" players need athleticism to do their jobs. Brady might not be a gifted natural athlete but he works tirelessly on his athleticism to compensate for this.

As far as we know at the moment, Al's injury is so serious that he is a little sore and will be forced to sit out a preseason game.

You guys shouldn't have any regrets about the trade, Big Al is a very good player but he's an inefficient scorer who needs touches to be effective yet doesn't make his teammates better. There is a reason you guys made such a massive improvement after the KG trade, it's not because Big Al hadn't reached his ceiling yet. You guys guys got a steal, the Wolves would have been much better off trading for Amare if a deal for him was on the table, but I mean it was McHale running the show, obviously he's going to make that trade to the Celtics if the opportunity presents itself.

no, no regrets, much as i love Big Al. KG has been everything i've expected and more.

and yeah, of course mchale was going to trade him to us. too bad he actually asked for something good in return. if only we had people like chris wallace in our back pocket to give us all-stars for a bunch of complete scrubs...

I think you got the wrong idea, I wasn't bringing up the McHale thing as a Laker fan, or because I wanted KG on the Lakers. The Wolves are my 2nd team, I want them to do well. McHale easily could have held out for Rondo who I consider better than Jefferson, there were other offers on the table McHale could have taken and used as leverage, better offers than what he got from the Celtics. It's pretty clear that McHale didn't have the Wolves best interests at heart when that deal was made.

And if Marc Gasol is a "complete scrub", what does that make Jefferson? A borderline scrub? It's funny that people are still harping on the idea that the Pau Gasol trade was terrible for the Grizzlies after how good Marc Gasol has been. I would rather have Marc Gasol than Jefferson honestly, I think Jefferson is much better, but I don't think you can build a winner around him, even as a 2nd option.
