OT: Machida = Ryu

Post#1 » by chaldean » Mon Oct 26, 2009 3:11 am

I was watching the UFC fight this weekend and when Machida walked in, i couldnt help but notice how much he looks like Ryu from Street fighter. Anyone else notice this? Dissapointing fight, but i still have a lot of faith in this guy. Anyone want to see him fight GSP, or maybe Anderson Silva!

Ryu doesn't need the judges to win a fight.

You're an obvious MMA n00b.

GSP and Machida will never fight. There are 2 weight divisions between them. Georges doesn't even want to go up 1 division n/m 2. Only one idiot wants to go up (BJ Penn and fails).

Anderson Silva is Machida's training partner and closest friends they have said MULTIPLE times they will NOT fight each other under any cirumstances (loyalty).

I get the whole Ryu joke but the rest was just terribly off.

GSP is already skeptical about going to Middleweight to fight Silva, let alone move all the way up to Light Heavyweight. It's not going to happen.

As much as I like Machida, Shogun is for real.

Can not wait for the rematch.

While there is no way for GSP to face Machida, Dana White seems to believe that Machida vs Anderson Silva is a good possibility (regardless of friendship, these guys are very competitive).

Machida is a light heavyweight, not a heavyweight. And on a side note, Shogun is an animal and would obviously beat Machida

You must be a n00b at life.

the possibility of that fight has already been discussed between the 2 camps, the plan is that GSP will move up 1 weight class and Machida will move down 1 weight class and thus meet at Middleweight.

As for the Anderson Silva and Machida fight, Dana White (president of the UFC) has already promised that the fight will happen if Anderson keeps walking through guys at 205.

Get your facts straight.

I have no idea where you read that, but I have never head anything about a GSP/Machida fight. No chance Machida could make 185 pounds or he would already be there.

Silva vs. GSP might happen. Maqchida vs. GSP will not.

I actually think Machida could definitely make 185, the only reason he doesnt is because he doesnt want to challenge his friend and training partner Silva. Before Machida even had the belt at 205 Silva said he would never move up to fight a title shot at 205 because his division is 185 and the 205 division belongs to Machida. Machida weighed in at 202 for his fight against Rua, he is by no means a big 205. Guys like Rampage, Griffin Lil Nog, Rashad Evans would have trouble going down but Anderson Silva, Dan Henderson, Rich Franklin, Wanderlei SIlva, Jason Mcdonald all look Machidas size or bigger and have fought at 185.

I don't think a Machida/GSP fight is in the works though, nor have I heard it being talked about. Machida has way too many contenders at 205 in Rua, Rampage (when he comes back), Luiz Cane and possible Jon Jones and Randy Courture fights if they win their next 2 for him to entertain a catch weight.

Silva/GSP on the other hand makes more sense. Both those guys have cleaned out their divisions and are only 15 pounds apart. If Silva beat Belfort, a catch weight or GSP moving up to 185 to challenge Silva for the belt is the only fight for either fighter that makes sense at their divisions. There have even been rumours of Silva wanting to move down to 170 to challenge GSP for his belt, but i doubt that would be agreed to by GSP's camp. The most likely scenerio is a catch weight or fight at 185 between GSP and Silva, or GSP's camp rejects the fight completely and Silva defends his 185 belt in rematches and fights the odd 205 guy.

LOL

Add Mousasi moving up and winning the LHW belt to that list. Anderson Silva has also done pretty well moving up to LHW.
