Marquis Daniels' appreciation thread?
I'm not a Celtic fan, but after watching him a little bit against Boston and how efficient he was against Cleveland, it's clear everyone was sleeping on this kid. He's showing as much confidence as he had back in Dallas. Glad to see he's gonna be a main cog in Boston's run for the title. Congrats on the very cheap pick-up.

Re: Marquis Daniels' appreciation thread?
hes gonna be awesome for us this season, i hope he can stay healthy
just gives us so many options, he can fill in with the starters to rest paul or ray with no issues, can run the second unit, drive and dish, drive and finish, defend...
Sheed was obviously a massive pick up, but Marquis went somewhat unnoted by most other teams and the media, regardless of the numbers he ends up with at the end of the season his actual impact to the team as a whole is a huge positive

You said it - Daniels might be the best $2 million player in the league. It's like having a better version of Posey back.

I definitely appreciate what Marquis brings to the table for this team. Perfect bench counterpart with Eddie House and can defend longer wings much like Posey did for us. I'm so excited about this season.

Marquis is doing a great job for the Celtics. I'm sure he feels like he is off to a little bit of a slow start to the season but he has been fine. I hope he doesn't press or try to do too much because he is playing within himself right now. The only thing that matters is the Celtics are 2-0.

Yes. But I've seen it been done this way too, on other boards.

Re: Marquis Daniels' appreciation thread?
I have been very impressed with Daniels. I saw his numbers with Indy and was underwhelmed, but I think that was due to the fact that he is poorly suited for an Obie offense as he is not a 3-point shooter and was forced to take a lot of 3's and basically be a spot up guy in a lot of offensive sets.
He is a pretty unique player. What I like most is that he comes across as a very intelligent player, always finding out what his advantage is in a given situation and making full use of it; whether it is abusing smaller players in the post, dribbling by slower defenders, or using the bag of tricks that is his midrange game. He is exactly the type of creator that thrives on a second unit, especially when surrounded by shooters like House and Wallace, and usually one of Allen or Pierce.
And while he is not overly athletic, he is pretty quick and has great length and is a very capable defender with good versatility.
It seems he is that the point in his career where he knows his strengths and weaknesses, understands the game and what his role is within the team concept, and his very accepting of it.

Re: Marquis Daniels' appreciation thread?
he has some pretty crazy mid to close range shots and layups... angles, one hand, falling, fading etc..
one of those awkward guys that are frustrating to defend because what looks like a bad shot is really a shot done on purpose that is likely to drop

Yea, he's one of those guys that you think you defend well, but he has all of those junk floaters and 8 foot fades that end up dropping. I love Marquis' game and skillset. Doc needs to put him in the game longer. Save Ray's legs!!

I am a big fan. He kinda reminds he is like a Ricky Davis without the streetball stupidity..He has a good handle and makes good decisions. Actually out of all our swingman he might have the best handle. Pierce is more dangerous with the ball because he draws a ton more attention. But Daniels seems much smoother..
He probably is worth twice to three times what he makes. And he came here to win at a young age. That's a classy guy..

Fair enough. But I do love Quisy. He's dirty! He hits some of the most ridiculous shots in the paint. He reminds me of D-Wade in that respect. Plus he plays good D and he and Eddie have great chemistry already.

I really like Marquis. I've been a fan of him since his rookie year in Dallas and I've always liked him much better than Josh Howard.
Efficiency is the name of the game with this cat.
He takes care of the ball and scores within the flow of the game.
Great, great player.

Agree with everything but the Ricky Davis comparison, since Ricky had no balls and wouldn't drive to the hoop unless a defender was 50 feet away from him on a fast break. Marquis is just the opposite; he has a mid-range game that extends beyond pull-up jumper.
Glad to have him on our roster over Matt Barnes.

Re: Marquis Daniels' appreciation thread?
^^^ Eh. I was a much bigger Ricky fan then you. Ricky had the complete offensive game. He would post people (so will Daniels) and he would slash to the basket. I think your crazy with regards to Ricky's abilities back in the day. Ricky made plenty of stupid decisions though and of course wasn't really a smart defender.
But we agree on Daniels. he is smart too. He gets the smaller guy on him and posts him like crazy. Too many big guys playing PG don't take enough advantage of it. I totally disagree with the announcer who was complaining (I think it was Breen) that he was 'forcing' things.
