Beaston Sucks! (Cito's Back)

Post#1 » by Modern_epic » Sat Oct 31, 2009 12:47 am

So cito gets one more year of driving us all nuts, then is retiring. Which on it's own doesn't make any sense unless we have strong championship aspirations.

And is means Arnsberg is going to the Astros. And Butterfeild is getting demoted to 3B, although that could be them keeping him around to replace Cito in a year. Oh, plus Tenace retired, which is maybe good? All according to Bastian on Twitter.

Anyway, there goes my faith in the new regime. I can't tell if this signals that they are going to go for it or rebuild, but either way Cito isn't the right manager to do it, and Arnsberg was the right pitching coach. AA is going to have to look damn spectacular from here on out for me to care about this team while Beaston is "just president".

Well, at least Ozzy is happy.

And the rest of the nostalgic baseball fans that don't actually pay attention to the game.

Well, ****.

Also, I love the contrast between AA's comments on Henn:

“He throws 94-95 m.p.h. and his slider has depth. He's never been able to put it all together. In all likelihood he might not be a guy in our bullpen, but our coaches have had success with reclamation projects,” Anthopoulos said, referencing Scott Downs, Shawn Camp and Jesse Carlson, useful arms who’ve were pulled off the scrap heap.

and

Arnsberg is going to the Astros

ARNSBERG had success with reclamation projects. And apparently turned Romero from a basket case into Wheelbarrow Balls in about two weeks of work in Spring Training. Yet he's out the door, and Cito stays.

Yippie.

And it has taken Cito all of 18 hours after the news to say something **** moronic.

From Bastian:

Cito on Halladay: "I can't speak for Doc, but my gut feeling is if he's here next year with us, then he'll probably leave after next year."

He really is starting to make JP look like he knew when to shut up.

Arnsberg was almost a gift and a curse. The pitching on this team drastically improved when he came on board but so did the number of pitchers going under the knife. That reputation followed him from Florida to Toronto and nothing really changed. Whether it is Arnsberg's fault or just bad luck is another story, but I don't recall another time when so many young starters went under the knife in a 3-4 year span.

Cito staying baffles me. If he is going to stay in the organization anyway after 2010, why not fire him from coaching and bump him up now?
