Question about Yao's surgery to repair for the long haul.
I was put under the impression that Yao's recurrent injury on his lower left leg/foot area is caused by his high-arcing foot that puts tremendous pressure on that part of his upper foot lower leg with recurring stress fractures. So if he had a lower-arc or almost flat footed that would not be an issue. The only problem is nothing was done with his right foot. I know Yao's left foot is probably his pivot and step off foot for shots and dunks to rebounding as well but wouldn't his right foot area eventually be reduce to a stress fracture as well?

probably
the guy is gonna have foot issues for the rest of his career, unfortunately
one of the most skilled big men to play the game
that 25ppg season w/ zero respect from the refs was a joy to watch
he will never be the same..

maybe NASA can design him some special shoes.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Yao is done. And he'll probably take his option his option to stay with Houston next season just b/c nobody will express interest b/c of his injury problem. In 2011 we can cut ties with him and move on. He is a hard worker his body just can't keep up with this determination.

We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

Comparing Yao to Z is a mistake. I'm not talking about the difference of height but bulk. Yao is much more physical and probably stacks up nearly 90lbs on Z due to his lower legs. Z can't push around 355lb Eddy Curry or hold his own against Shaq the way Yao does. Z has a less imposing frame at 260lbs and he looks like it while Yao is closer to 360 in actuallity. If Z does have high-arcing feet it would serve his frame but Yao needs low arcs or nearly flat feet to absorb the shock.
