Okafor to Boston trade idea

Post#1 » by fishdoctor » Mon Nov 16, 2009 6:14 pm

The rumor of sending Okafor to Sac for expiring deals got me thinking . . . I love Ray Ray as much as anyone, but I see this as a possible opportunity for us . . . Caution: I have a bit of a mancrush on Emeka. What if we were to send Ray and Scal (2 expiring deals) for Peja and Okafor? Peja replaces Rays outside shooting and Okafor provides a fantastic "transitional star" to pair with Rondo and Perk in the years to come. Thoughts?

Shush your mouth with Okafor to Boston ideas. Okafor is not worth what he's paid. We have no need for him and when the time comes Ainge will find a "transitional star" to keep us competitive.

When they first traded for him I thought, man they must have really not wanted their 7 foot center. Then when they talked about immediately trading oke, and real gm posted his ridiculous contract, I thought, damn; the hornets are in the top three for worst organizations the past two years. And I'm still pissed at them for boning themselves and us with that posey deal. A holes. Have fun unloading that.

Why not just offer Scal, House TOny and Giddions with House getting cut and comming back here for Okafor? That would make a lot more sense.

Then the Celtics try to explain to Okafor that he will be playing 15 mins. a game behind KG, Perkins, BBD and Rasheed. This is dumb. He makes way to much money and he doesn't offer anything the Celtics don't already have on their roster. The guy has $52 million left on his contract after this year and is marginally better than Perk.

The Celtics going after Okafor is one of the dumbest things I've seen in a while. No offense.

I was just on the Knicks board and they wouldn't trade Eddie Curry for Okafor. Which I think would be a good deal for them. If they can not trade Curry or Jeffries they can only afford one max contract and Okafor would aleast give them someone to pair with that lone star.

They I would do from Boston's point of view is Okafor for Scalabrine, Glen Davis, Sheldon Williams, Tony Allen and JR Giddens. But I don't think a five to one is all that practical. But if Ok. went to NY for Curry they could take and cut all those players since it is all about 2010 for them.

Interesting the change in points for the deal I propose is +1 pts, +3 rbs and -.5 asts for Boston.

I would think Boston would continue to start Perk and KG, but have Wallace and Okafor in together which would make a lot of sense KG and Wallace play away from the basket while Perk and Okafor grab the rebounds.

We just don't have any need for Okafor at the moment. All he would be is an upgrade over Perk, which we have no reason to go out and get. He'd be great for the future, but we should look into using our expirings for a position/combination of positions (C/PF) that we aren't already set with five solid to elite players. We should be looking more at getting someone else on the wing or a point guard.

Only way we should consider Okafor to Boston is for a Rondo/Paul swap as well.

Well- the thing about Okafor is that he's the kind of player who would get involved in a 2-4 team deal if an elite big man demanded a trade. Rondo likewise for elite point guards. So you don't just get them to have them, you get them to be players for superstars. If you look at the history of superstar trades, there are a lot of A+ for B+ trades - Marbury gets you J. Kidd etc.

I think Okafor is underrated. He would also make Perk expendable and Perk has some value.

That said, Perk's a good value, Okafor is paid fairly enough, Peja makes 15 mil next season.

Not the worst proposal I've ever seen on RealGM. But it just doesn't feel right.

It probably would be worth making the trade. We wouldn't be paying anymore this year as we would have traded guys for him. At some point we can probably trade him, and he will be a big help if Perk, KG or Sheed go down.

You just dont pay 10 Mill a year over 5 years for a 2nd big of the bench. If we trade for him we shoud trade Rasheed or Perk which isnt going to happen so no...
