As a jays fan I would have to do this.
I assume you would have no problem paying for Vernon Wells, but maybe I overestimate your owners.

I would do this... here is why... Wells only a few seasons ago was a good hitter, and a fair defender. He could at any time find his nitch again and start raking. and after spending 40m on a guy like Pavano, and crazy loot going down the toilet to Jamey Wright, Kei Igawa... id gladly take on wells who can be a serviceable hitter to make this happen. Specially if we can toss Igawa in the trade

the only way on earth I would do this deal is if there is no Montero, A Jax, Hughes or Joba in the deal. Taking back that bum Wells mean we shouldn't expect to give up crap.
