Ray Rice was not seduced by the charms of Lambeau Field

By MJD

I've never been to Lambeau Field myself, but I've heard the same things everyone else has: that it's a unique monument to football, that it's unlike any other place in the league, that it has a quaint, small-town charm, etc. Everyone who visits adores the place.

Except Ray Rice(notes).

The Baltimore Ravens running back didn't have much nice to say about Green Bay or Lambeau Field after losing last night's game.

"To be honest with you, it was just Lambeau Field," he said. "I didn't see anything special. They put us in the middle of nowhere and it's not a real exciting place.

"Everything about this place is terrible, to be honest with you."

It's too bad Ray sees it that way, but really, how many times does your experience in a place color your perceptions of that place? Ray Rice went to Green Bay, and not only did he lose, but he had to watch a stuttering, penalty-filled festival of football incompetence. Of course he doesn't like it.

Think about your favorite bars. The ones you think of most fondly are probably the ones where you've gotten drunk, had a great time and met a nice lady you could take home and share your poetry with. And there's probably another bar you hate -- one that's pretty similar to the bar you love -- because the bouncer there punched you in your eye after you peed on the dance floor.

Well, last night, Ray Rice got punched in the eye by the Packers because Joe Flacco(notes) peed on the dance floor. You can't expect him to enjoy that.

Gracias, Pro Football Talk.

Loved Florio's take on it:

Ray Rice doesn't like Green Bay

Posted by Mike Florio on December 8, 2009 8:00 AM ET

Ravens running back Ray Rice, who was anything but his recently electric self against the Packers on Monday night, likely can forget about ever donning a yellow helmet with a slightly squished "G" on each side.

After Monday night's 27-14 loss, Rice took aim at the stadium in which the game was played, and the city in which the stadium is situated.

"To be honest with you, it was just Lambeau Field," Rice said, per Drew Olson of OnMilwaukee.com. "I didn't see anything special. They put us in the middle of nowhere and it's not a real exciting place.

"Everything about this place is terrible, to be honest with you."
Ray? You're from New Rochelle, New York. You went to college in Piscataway, New Jersey. And now you live in Baltimore.

Not that we have a problem with any of those places. But if Rice is going to cop an attitude about Green Bay, then we need to point out that he doesn't spend the bulk of his time in Manhattan or Paris or some other place that would satisfy the exacting standards that he apparently compromises when choosing where he'll live.

We know he had no choice when it came to being drafted by the Ravens. Still, the guy shouldn't be looking down his nose at a small city with a low crime rate and a population that, per capita, has more zeal for pro football than any other city in the world.

He's apologized.

Rice, we'd like you to know that your apology is not accepted, because you went to college in New Jersey and judging books by their covers is the way to go.

I wouldn't like Green Bay either if I was Ray Rice and got owned by the Packers D... Pretty immature, but what I'd expect out of Ray Rice...

Last season, him and Rashard Mendenhall were having a friendly text war before the first Steelers v. Ravens game, Mendenhall joked that he was going to run over the Ravens D and Mr. Rice went and showed the message to several players... The lesson, as always...

Never trust Ray Rice.

Ohh, BTW, the Ravens D ended Mendenhall's season that night...

He went to Rutgers. One of the few things I love about NJ, Rutgers University. And hes the best player to ever come here. I love that midget :)
