Questions about Maynor

Post#1 » by Finn Man » Fri Dec 11, 2009 8:43 pm

Hello Jazz land! I´ve got some questions for you about your rookie guard Maynor.
1)How has his point guard skills looked so far?
2)What is his ceiling?
3)If you were re-drafting right now the -09 draft (I know, it´s too early..) do you think you got a steal with him at #20?

He had a stretch of great games and has recently had some poor shooting.
His ceiling is pretty high. He's better than Mo Williams IMO.
Yes, he was a draft steal due to there being a glut of quality PGs last draft.

PG Skills are good, looks like he needs time to contribute though, struggles a bit off the bench.

His ceiling is decently high. He definitely has the potential to start on an NBA team and be a good player. I don't see All-Star written on him but no reason why he couldn't be a Ramon Sessions type PG.

It's hard to say a steal, but he'll stick around in the NBA which is hard to find a player of that caliber at the end of the first round.

Thanks you for good and quick responses!
Also, can you tell me about his mid-range game? I have only seen a few games where he has struggled badly.. Thank you in advance!

In so few games it's hard to say where his mid range J is. He looks a lot more comfortable shooting when moving towards the basket i.e. floaters, running jumpers and even a couple of weird turn around hook shots that he apparently has a pretty good handle on.

As a set shooter he hasn't found his groove yet.

It's hard to say about his mid-range game. It's really not his role to take those so we don't see if very often. And when he is in there with Deron, Deron is the the better 2 guard so that may be sayin something. Maynor isn't good at outside shooting yet from what I can tell.

He has a great inside game with a nice tear drop floater in his arsenal. Deron has noticed and is starting to try to put that in his game too but is not as good as Maynor yet.
Go ReAL!

Thanks again, I appreciate. Reason I´m asking about his mid-range game is that he was one heck of a scorer in VCU. Now I won´t be bothering you anymore, and start watching games..
