I know its early but with the college season winding down, it's time to start talking about my own personal Christmas day, the NFL draft.
JR put out his newest mock today.
He has us in rounds 1-3 taking OT Anthony Davis from Rutgers, OT Vladimir Ducasse from UMass, and DE Austen Lane from Murray State (the latter two I know absolutely nothing about).
Personally, if that type of scenario were to play out, I'd much rather trade down or go Terrence Cody in round one, Obrien Schofield in round two, and either Selvish Capers or Gabe Carimi in round 3.
I think Mount Cody is the ideal nose tackle and allows Raji to stay at end long term, where I think he's a better fit. Kamp is most likely gone, so the front seven is going to be a place that should still be addressed early.
Schofield, call me a homer, is gonna be a steal. Reminds me of James Harrison. He's a little small, but the guy has great quickness and his motor is non stop. Projects as a 3-4 OLB.
I've said before that I think the offensive tackles selected anywhere from the latter part of the first round and 3rd round are gonna be similar in terms of talent and upside in this particular draft. Even the early 1st round tackles I'm not too enthused about. Carimi and Capers are both good fits in a ZBS and both could have a long term future at LT, with Lang the long term solution at right. Besides that, I really wanna see the Packers go after a vet in free agency or bring back Clifton and/or Tausch on one year deals. I think they both have at least another season left in the tank.
I would think long and hard about Jahvid Best in the first as well. I know he has to most likely be a part time back, but more and more teams are going to a two back system now, and a kick/punt return threat would do wonders for this offense.
Another scenario that's played out in my head is wondering if the Browns may go into cost cutting mode and seeing if they would part with Joe Thomas. I personally would give them a Cutler type package for him. He might be the best LT in the game, is a perfect fit for our scheme and is a local hero. Two first rounders (this years and next years), a second round pick (next year), and AJ Hawk, a home state product of their own is what I would offer and see if they bite. Highly doubtful, but you never know. I never thought Denver would trade their franchise QB either. If you think that's too much to offer, just remember how many times our franchise QB has been on his back this year.

Re: 2010 Draft Thread
It's not too early to talk about next years draft. However we do have a thread on this already, so I'll shut this one down and we'll use the existing thread. You can copy/paste this post over there.

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.
