Victory Cigar comeback v. Pacers

Played 24 minutes mostly like poopy, then 24 of true Celtic basketball. Cigar may not taste as sweet as it should, but light it up we will.

Had to vote for Perk. If it wasn't for his energy in the 3rd, we might have lost this one.

Ray Allen...23 pts, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal..I would have given it to Perkins, but my godness..5 TO's? No way....sugar Ray was huge in the 4th too..so...he gets it from me..

This one was between Perk and Ray for me. I ended up going Perk b/c he was consistent all night and battling for seemingly every rebound on both ends of the court.

Eddie House gets an honorable mention for lighting it up in a short span in the 2nd quarter.

I almost voted for Paul but his stat line was terrible. Not that stats are everything but he was 4-15 shooting. Clutch in the 4th though.

I went with Perk. He was fairly consistent and aggressive. Did have 5 turnovers but a few were on BS illegal screens. 19 points 8 rebounds 4 blocks. I love the way he plays quite frankly.

Rondo was the only one of the starters who really had the energy going in the first half. And then his steals and overall defense helped us pull even in the 3rd quarter. To top it off, he hit free throws at the end. You can tell he's been working on them.

I think you could make a case for Ray, Paul, Perk, or Eddie as well. Eddie hit huge shots in the second.

Perk for me. Ray and Rajon played great and PP was clutch in the 4th.

I have 2 things to say:

I am voting for Paul in spite of his 4-15, because 19 points in the second half, most of them in the fourth quarter, combined with 5 steals and intense D and 6 rebounds led us to victory. Hands down. Perk and Ray were very very good also throughout the game. But Paul brought this game home on a night when he could not make a basket for three quarters. THAT IS CALLED CLUTCH. THAT IS WHY HE IS THE TRUTH.

Secondly, for KM: 1) Get your facts straight before you go off about lack of team intensity without your hero KG. We lacked intensity for about 26 minutes, then we turned the rockets on for 22 minutes and won going away. These sluggish starts have happened multiple times this year EVEN WITH YOUR HERO PLAYING. 2) Get your facts straight before you go off on Paul when he was playing "off" in the first half. He played All Pro for the first 15 games, and has played inconsistently for the last 12 games - he was brilliant for a couple games (see Wolves game) or parts of a game when it mattered (when he scored almost 19 points in Q4 alone tonight), average some other games, and passive and crappy for a few games. That is not a 2 games great, 8 games off cycle. You got it wrong. I did not invent what I just said. These are facts. Look it up. 3) Even though I think you are a good guy, you put yourself in really bad company when you quote and agree with that pathetic non-entity spewing his "gloom and doom", utterly preposterous, WRONG bull. He was only wrong for the 400000th time tonight.

C'mon ex. You know better than call out KM like that. His silence means he was proven wrong by Pierce in the 4th quarter. No need to rub it in his face. He posted the stuff he said when Pierce was still playing a horrible game in the 1st half. Bottom line, Pierce and KG are part of the same team, and if they don't have issues with each other, then neither should their respective fans.

Mze

I love KG. He is Paul's 1B, and we cannot win a banner without him. I have NO ISSUES with him, and never have.

KM went off in the wrong direction during the game thread about 1) the need for KG in order to have intensity; and 2) his facts about Paul's play for the entire 27 game season. These incorrect statements needed to be corrected. I am not trying to rub anything in KM's face. I like KM.

I'm sorry but I don't think KG is Paul's 1B. KG is one of the top 15 of all time. You can't say the same for Paul.

Enough with the comparisons already. The Celtics are not about individuals. Every player is equally important with respect to their roles on the team. Let's just leave it at that.

OK. Truce. We got the best team in the NBA. No need to argue semantics.

Voted for Perk. I always view the cigar as an honor for who had the most impact in the team winning something which is not always stats based. In this game Perks energy in the third was tremendous and key to our comeback. He was doing it all, scoring, battling down low for rebounds and playing great D. Jesus was tremendous as well, so you really can't go wrong either way but I was astounded by Perk's energy in a game that was lacking a lot on our part!

I woke up and they were playing the game again on NBA League Pass. I watched the second half again. The game was 86-86 with 5 minutes left. Let's see. Who scored 13 points in the last 5 minutes of the game (after his shot was off for 3 quarters)? Paul Pierce. The Truth. That is the ultimate in clutchness. He also played ferocious defense for the entire second half, and had 5 steals and 6 rebounds during that time. Perk and Ray were awesome last night also. They are certainly deserving of the votes they received. We are a very good TEAM. However, Paul won that game for us last night in the last 6 minutes.

KG will be remembered as one of the best power forwards of all time, and is a sure fire HOFer. However, on this team, for the past 3 years, Paul is the man and KG is the 1B.

Neither one would win a banner without the other. They are symbiotic. And Paul will also get into the HOF, pass 20K points before this year ends, and retire second in Celtic history to Havlicek in points scored and a Celtic legend.

And he and KG and Rondo will lead us to another banner THIS YEAR.

And he will continue to be underappreciated even by Celtic fans. Unreal.

Ray kept us from being down 30 in the first half, but had to go with Perk. He was just doing it all.
