T-Minus 35 Minutes to Season Liftoff?

Post#1 » by ecuhus1981 » Wed Dec 23, 2009 11:53 pm

I'm no pie-in-the-sky dreamer. I know that Yi's presence isn't going to turn us into contenders. And I know that the last thing that our young (-ish) 7-foot (-ish) project bigman needs is a truckload of pressure to perform immediately

BUT, this season has withered away my patience. I knew we'd be bad, but I don't think even the most callous of prognosticators predicted us to tbe THIS bad. I could really use a glimmer of hope, tonight.

Poetically speaking, there doesn't seem to be a better time to RE-start the season than tonight's game against Minnesota, the team to which we gave away a W in the actual start of the season. Practically speaking, even buoyed by the emergence of Kevin Love, the Wolves are the worst team we'll face before the All-Star break. We NEED this win.

We can continue to roll out the red carpet for excuses, like "we're not at full health yet", and "Kiki needs more time to get us rolling". All I know is we have all the earmarks of a SINGLE-DIGIT win team this season, IF we don't right the ship. I do still believe we can build the future starting now, but we have to get going. So, go Nets, GO!

It's true, we deff. would have won a few more games with Yi and Hayes in the lineup.

Another L, but I am encouraged by the production and the passion out of Yi. He obviously takes the fact that he will be relied upon as a key contributor seriously. Now, whether he can deliver is another matter, but the early returns are positive. Lee looked better and Terrence Williams looked like he is finally ready to do what the coaches are asking him to do. Brook got owned by Al tonight, but the 7 assists is very nice. He will be our pivot in every sense of the word, and you could tell it keyed our guards' uptick in production and efficiency.

Can't wait for Hayes and CDR to get back...

D was supposed to be the one thing this team could do well, that is just not the case at all. We are a bad defensive team. Yi looked good tonight mixing it up and shooting well, we missed him. With that said, we are a 12 win team at this point.

thats one thing Yi has shown...he is willing to mix it up on defense and compete...he may not be the greatest defender, but the guys puts the effort in...he can only get better...hopefully he continues to shoot at a high clip...
