In a no FT% league, yeah.

Other than that, I will never have Dwight on any of my fantasy teams. Ever.

Hahaha. Dem's strong words. Assuming he returns to being the player he was last season, I guess I'd be willing to draft Dwight in a H2H league and then build my team around him. But it's too hard to trade for him mid-season unless you're already an irreparably bad FT% team -- and I don't know how that could be if you don't already have Dwight.

So to the OP, no, I wouldn't make that trade.

Bad trade, you lose too much; the rebounds and FG percentage in Howard and Miller.

For that dude up there not wanting Howard in any league, you are crazy. I always take Howard and draft around him. You just have to take other players who will do great in FT% -- simple. In a Roto league, I would rather dominate in blocks, rebounds and give up FT. That's 2 over 1.

It's not that simple. Dwight Howard doesn't win blocks and rebounds for you as thoroughly as he drags down your FT%. So in a Roto league, where it doesn't make sense to outright tank a category, he's a lousy piece to build around.

To put it another way, if you draft Dwight Howard in a Roto league, you then have to "over-pay" for great FT shooters to mitigate the harm he does to you there, and you do so at the expense of gains you could be making in other categories. And at the end of the day, you have a mediocre FT shooting team and probably didn't get the positional value that you could have in the draft. Why bother when you could draft Bosh or Lopez, and circle back for a non-center shot blocker (Josh Smith, Tyrus Thomas) later on?

I don't always plan to tank the FT category, but I know with Howard I can win 2 categories and if I put great FT shooters around him, I will get a decent FT spot. The only combination that is better than Howard is Bosh and Smith. Then again, a guy like Smith is gone very early and Howard is right in front of him or right behind him.

Lopez is great, but look at how his numbers went down when all Nets got back in shape. Thomas is a bad FT as much as Howard.

I am just not afraid to take Howard, base on how I see the draft. Shaq was always highly drafted at his prime even with a bad FT% - go figure.

I'm not saying it can't be done, but if you draft Howard in the first 3 rounds of a Roto league you make things unnecessarily hard on yourself for the reasons I listed above.

Btw, Tyrus isn't nearly as bad or damaging a FT shooter as Dwight. Look at their numbers.
