Kevin Martin is back – almost.

"We'll see how these practices go the next couple of days," Martin told The Bee by phone immediately following his doctor's appointment. "It's a good thing I have been doing basketball-related workouts for three weeks so it should be real quick."

Exactly how quick will be determined in the next few days. Martin started working out Tuesday afternoon and planned to get in as much work as possible before Friday.

He will practice with the team today, and follow with extra work on his own. The team isn't scheduled to practice Thursday, but Martin is planning to work out with an assistant coach that night in Philadelphia. From there, Martin hopes Kings coach Paul Westphal deems him ready to return.

And now the moment of truth. The Evans/Martin era begins friday. I know one thing, we DEFINATELY coulda used Martin's scoring in the 4th quarter of the Orlando game. And we'll get a second crack at them (as well as Philly, Atlanta & Miami) during this road trip. Lets see what happens.

Info only, per RealGM policy, I believe you can only quote 3 paragraphs of an article.

Yes this will be the time of truth for the kings. If Martin and Evans fit well together you can expect the kings to make a push for the playoffs this year. Or we could find out that we have to trade him because the fit is terrible. I'm hopping they fit together.

First off, I don't think Martin returning will be enough to reach playoffs if thats what you were implying by "push". And second, if the Kings are going to trade Martin, I hope its because they have already made up thier minds on the direction they want to head instead of basing it off a one month evaluation right before the deadline. If they truely want to evaluate Evans/Martin, it needs to be done for at least the remainder of the season IMO. I'm with you in hoping it works, but I also realize Martin is the Kings' best trade asset outside of Evans if they hope of acquiring a dominant big man.
can we just get a new arena already...

It's going great....Kevin Martin and Tyreke Evans have been unstoppable in the backcourt so far. The rest of the team isn't really that bad either. The score was 83-82 in the fourth quarter against the Wizards. They just can't play on the road or finish close games.

Yeah. Kevin's the one that made it so our bigs can't finish around the basket, and put a chunk of our team into a shooting slump.

Watch. The. Game.

Really Martin has been better than expected. No energy at all from the bench. The bigs are bipolar. This team needs a year or two to contend.

Did you watch the game?

Where did Martin give the indication that he is chucking shots up? For the most part, he was deferring to Evans and the team in general. He was ice cold for this game.

Remember Gerald Wallace went down with an injury? The Kings made their run when Gerald was not on the court.

If you guys want to be fair, you have to fully evaluate the situation.
