Would you do this four team trade?

Post#1 » by campybatman » Fri Jan 22, 2010 7:41 pm

First, let me preface this by saying this is only an idea before everyone begins to just criticize.

I'm thinking Boston could sign Sean Williams, if his character issues aren't a major deterrence, as the twelfth player. Or someone else who's readily available in free agency right now.

Since Boston's roster falls below the twelve player minimum after this trade. I don't know the time table Boston will have to fill the twelfth roster. Not to mention, Daniels is still out.

Roster

Forwards - Garnett, Pierce and Wallace
Centers - Perkins, Williams and Sean Williams(?)
Guards - Rondo, Ray, Hinrich, Daniels, House and Giddens

Jose Barea
Tony Allen
Brian Scalabrine
Bill Walker

Dallas

You are all in a huff over BBD's character and you want to sign Sean Williams? He couldn't even get out of the doghouse and play on a last place team.

I wouldn't want to see this happen unless we could get a big man or a draft pick coming back too.

I'd be open to it if Danny had a couple sureshot buyout guys already lined up to come and fill those last few roster spots. Otherwise, no way.

From a talent perspective, it's about even on our end, but we give up too much depth, with three players that are currently getting minutes for one. If we were healthy, yes, but I don't feel we should be making this trade.

Also, Chicago says hell no. Johnson, Thomas, and Hinrich for expirings and Nocioni's terrible contract? Re-arrange the deal so Dallas has to take Noc's contract, Chicago gets back Davis, Casspi and Brockman, then it's fairer.

Would I do this trade...

If I'm Boston: Sure. I gave up scrubs for a legitimate back up combo guard that contributes on both ends of the court consistently.

If I'm Chicago: No way. I just traded away Nocioni for Salmons and we don't want him back. Barea is ok but not enough to make up for the loss of Hinrich, and basically we just gave away Tyrus Thomas who has been playing really well since he got healthy again. None of the other players will ever get off the bench.

If I'm Dallas: Absolutely. I just upgraded Barea for Casspi, the steal of the draft. I also traded away Howard (who none of our fans or ownership like) for Kevin Martin, who is better anyway. Then I also landed two overweight but serviceable big men in Davis and May. Best trade in franchise history, perhaps. This would make them the clear number 2 in the west and give them a decent shot at beating the Lakers in a 7 game series.

I'm I'm Sacramento: No way in hell. Trade away our best player and a rookie we're very high on (Casspi) for a player who has been hurt on and off the last few years and has severely underperformed? Plus his character is questionable... And why would we want Tyrus Thomas when we already have a lot of strong prospects in our front court?

This is the dumbest trade thread ever. WOW
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

Yeah, I'd realized that after I was finished. Honestly, I was plugging in names on the checker and didn't stop to realize that it was becoming one-sided in Dallas' favor.

Okay, I think I've nailed it. Here's my redo... Funny, same problem persist--Celtics are left with only eleven players unless they sign one free agent.

Free agents I think who are still available... Sean Williams, Shaun Livingston, Desmond Mason and Antonio Daniels.

The only concern is if Davis veto's the trade (full BYC contract; veto power until July 1st). Nonetheless, I don't think he would if he understands that he's going from a playoff team to another playoff team, and Davis is from Louisiana which neighbors Texas. He'll be in a win-win situation.

Roster

Forwards - Garnett, Pierce, Wallace and Walker
Centers - Perkins, Armstrong , Williams and Sean Williams (?)
Guards - Rondo, Ray, Hinrich and Daniels

BOS

Kirk Hinrich (2 years)
Hilton Armstrong (expiring)

CHI

Andres Nocioni (3 years; last year's a team option)
Eddie House (expiring)
Brian Scalabrine (expiring)

DAL

Kevin Martin (3 years)
Glen Davis (1 year)

SAC

Josh Howard (1 year; team option)
John Salmons (1 year)
Tony Allen (expiring)
Quinton Ross (1 year; player option)
JR Giddens (2 years but they're both team options)

So Hinrich basically for Davis, Allen and House? Hmmm.... Hinrich is the best player. Yeah, I would strongly consider that.

The key to my latest trade is Sacramento. Because the Kings would only consider a deal like this or smaller if the starting back court tandem of Evans and Martin fails. Think of it like the back court of Golden State who start Curry and Ellis. A rookie paired with a young budding star player.

Also, my deal would allow Sacramento to subtract two large contracts and get a good player in return who isn't already signed longterm. The only other longterm contracts that they might want to move are that of Udrih and Garcia. For a rebuilding team like the Kings, this is a good four way trade to consider. Or a similar trade like mine. I mean it's all about shedding team payroll for the potentially big 2010 free agents.
