2 unconventional guys that we might need to look at

Post#1 » by Papa Irish31 » Sun Jan 31, 2010 8:08 am

Right now i think we all agree that our bench is deplorable, and while we have been plagued by some injuries, and still have marquis coming back at some point, we desparately need to make a move to change the makeup of our bench

the trade scenarios we all want bring back guys like kirk hinrich, teyshaun prince, monte ellis, or nate robinson, but as of now, it doesnt look like danny will be able to come through with any of those pipe dreams, so its time that we at least consider scouring through the rest of the guys and find someone who can fit a need and improve our bench

here are my two picks you might not have thought of, and that we have a good chance of being able to get, basically these would be my fall back plans to the top options if i was danny

Ricky Davis and Deshawn Stephenson both are a little crazy, but that might be a good thing for this team right now, more importantly both play good D, can create their own shot (not to mention are very willing to do so) and can hit open threes

basically Davis is like tony allen with a jump shot and better size, and deshawn is like Eddie with not quite of good as shot but better size and can handle the ball guard his man and create his own shot

anyway, i just feel like we have to do something because tony and marquis cant play in the backcourt because you crowd the floor and lose spacing and house is a mismatch because of his size and not being able to play the point

Deshawn would be a good pickup, aside from the contract. We could find a dozen players better than Davis in the D-League though, and I may be selling the D-League short on that one.

Come on give me a break...one of the worst trade proposal I ever saw on Boston board...Davis and Stevenson

Both would have hard time to be 11-12th guy on our bench

Who on our bench is capable of scoring 20 pts on any given night like Ricky?Come on man..If Ricky came here he would be our 6th man, EASILY! Something like a poor version on Jamaal Crawford. He brings defense, he brings energy, and he brings shooting+scoring..if there was ANY WAY we could get him, I'd be ALL for it. Don't act like you don't remember how good Ricky was off the bench for us a couple years ago.

Not to mention, we would finally have somebody that can go up and get Rondo's lob passes. GET RICKY!!!!

Well, after he was traded, news leaked out that Ricky was starting to become an **** to Pierce, questioning his leadership and rolling his eyes whenever Pierce would give rah-rah speeches. And according to T-wolves fans, KG wasn't the biggest fan of Ricky's work ethic. I'm not too sure we bring him back here.

As for Stevenson - it's funny that you think he can hit open 3s. I'd be surprised if he could hit open layups at this point. He shot 31% last year and is lighting it up this year with a blazing 30%. The sad thing is that is his FG%. His 3pt % was 27% last year, and is 19% this year.

Ricky Davis  and most of think Sheed has bad shot selection. No way in hell do I want him on the C's unless it's for Scal. I have a strange feeling Ainge is going to pick up somebody like Von Wafer or Wally or something not so good.

I was surprised Davis was even given a contract this year. I was pretty sure he was out of the league.

Honestly, Davis couldn't be any worse than House this year. However, I'd still prefer to just avoid him.

I'd rather have Von Wafer or Bonzi Wells than either of those guys.
