What Trades Do We Do At The Half?
I think that Danny's got to keep a core team together. But, also make some difficult moves. Ray Allen has lost a step or two, has an appealing expiring contract, and if traded would clear up cap room for next season. I believe that we need to trade him now.
We should keep the youth, including bringing back Lester Hudson. Trade out Williams, Scal and Tony Allen, while they all still have some appeal. But beyond experience and solid youth, what are we looking to acquire?
What do you think?

Re: What Trades Do We Do At The Half?
I add glenn to the trade list.
I still think we keep walker cause it doesn't cost us much for a roster spot.
And try to keep williams too (cheap energy roster spot)
trade t.allen scal bbd giddens and if right stuff comes along ray.

I'd add all the youth to the trade category. None of them are dealbreakers imo.

Only players that should be untouchable are Rondo and Perkins, provided we get the clear better end of the deal.

I've been the president of the Bash Tony Club for a few years. However, at this point, I'd much rather trade Eddie than Tony.

Re: What Trades Do We Do At The Half?
Swap Eddie and filler (Scalabrine) for a SF shooter. My initial target would be Salmons.
As for a more conceptual reply:
- I have always been in the camp that Ainge should deal Ray Allen before he retires. I'm not certain, despite the added value of his expiring contract, that this season is the time to do so, especially considering the luxury tax hit for next season.
- Big Baby is also someone that I've hoped Ainge resigned as an 09/10 stopgap with the intention of trading him next offseason. I do appreciate the tangible and intangible things he provides, but if KG and Wallace are on the roster beyond this season, it is more beneficial to have another inside scoring and rebounding big.
- I know it will come as a shock, but, I do not advocate trading Tony Allen. My stance on him I have made very evident lately on a number of threads. He's not perfect. But, more to the point, the Celtics can resign him with Bird rights and to acquire another player that can score and play defense will require Ainge use at least part of the MLE.
- Back to House. I'm not as down on him as others. However, having him on the roster is always going to require Ainge to be creative in getting other wing players around him that can shield his ballhandling deficiencies. In a perfect world, House would be a periphery rotation player. But he has enough equity as a shooter to command more than that from a number of teams. Which is why he makes a very good trade candidate.

Re: What Trades Do We Do At The Half?
If I know Ainge by now, and I think I do, Tony Allen and Big Baby Davis are two guys that he wants to trade. Both have some good points and at times tease us with decent play but overall they are just not NBA talent, or at least not talent deserving of a spot on the Celtics. Both have been getting some burn latly, well Tony really as he was not playing before. I think this is a calculated move to up his stock before the deadline, ad frankly we don't have a lot of healthy options to through out there.
Core:
Rondo
Perk
Pierce
KG(I'm not sure we coild move him if we wanted to yet)
One foot out the door:
Baby
Tony Allen
Giddions
Walker
Williams is one guy I disagree about. I think if we can lock him up long term on the cheap we should do it. He strinkes me as a winner and even if he never pans out to even be a decent back up (and on a lesser team he probably already could be) as Mike Gormon says, "Man, big guys certainly get a lot of looks in this league." My point is you can always trade a big guy that is on the cheap.

Re: What Trades Do We Do At The Half?
I'm sticking with keeping a core, with:
Starters
----------
Rondo
Pierce
K.G.
Perkins
Secondary
------------
Daniels
Wallace
Davis
Davis is the only one that I'd consider trading. Thing that keeps me from going hog-wild, is that everyone on the team currently, knows the system. For that reason, I wouldn't do a total rebuild at mid-season, just a good tune-up.
With that in mind, the chopping block should be:
Ray Allen
Tony Allen
Scalabrine
& House.
I've moved over to trading House because he's not that much of an all-around player. And, he's just not a good option at PG. He's got bad ball handling skills and – take away his 3-point threat and – what-do-you-got?
Tony Allen & Scalabrine are always questionable long-term. They're in a good light now, so this is the best time to unload them. As opposed to waiting for them to show their fallacies.
Ray Allen is not what he once was. And always looks like he's tired and bored of his job. I would not re-sign me.
Problem is: if you trade Ray Allen & Tony Allen & then House, who starts the 2? Daniels is bench for the 2 & 3? If you start him at the 2, then who backs up the 2 & 3?
Walking the line are:
Walker
Giddens
Williams
& Davis
Basically, I would keep these four for now, with trade possibilities off-season. Trading 8 guys mid-season would be ridiculous.
Add Hudson to this young secondary core, and you've some fresh legs going forward. Granted Hudson's not actually on the team right now, but I suspect Danny'll bring him back after the mid-season trade-show.
Reasons to keep these (5):
--------------------------------
These guys are young,
Don't cost that much,
They know our system,
And, they're injury insurance
Davis should remain in the secondary, unless there is a valid trade acquisition that would warrant letting him go. The rest can fill-out the 12-15 on the 15-man roster.
Back to Hudson. I've been rooting for him since the pre-season. I believe that he can fill the empty slot at backup PG, for the long-term. He'll be back.
If we trade Ray Allen, Tony Allen & House, we'll have a cavern to fill at the 2, with only Daniels remaining.
We still need someone behind Pierce & Daniels at the 3.
PF is all set behind K.G., with Wallace, Davis and Williams.
But the 5 is skimpy. Basically, we've only got Perkins & Wallace. We need a better 3rd option.
Question:
--------------
Who's out there at the Half, that can help us win another title?
