What is the biggest need for the Jazz???
Imo we need a defensive center. Memo doesn't play good on the road and I believe by getting a big defensive center we would improve on the road. The last two years Gasol has shot about 75% against the Jazz in the playoffs because Boozer and Millsap is undersized and they have trouble guarding him. If were ever going to beat the Lakers we have to improve the post defense.
Biggest needs according to me:
1. Defensive Center
2. Backup PG
Players willing to trade:
CJ Miles
Ronnie Brewer
Kyle Korver
Kosta Koufus
Memo Okur
What do you feel the Jazz's biggest needs are?

A scoring wing, and its not even close.

we have enough talented wings already I wouldn't put that as a big need
I would say we need a shot blocking center, same thing i've been saying for several years now

We dont have even one elite scorer on the wing or perimeter...if we had that, without losing certain core pieces, we would be a championship team.

Re: What is the biggest need for the Jazz???
I say that if we get either one, we will need the other one. A scoring wing, such as Martin, would be great offensively, but would weaken us defensively. Likewise, a defensive center, such as Haywood, would improve us defensively, but would weaken us offensively. One without the other would not work, IMO. Also, one would need to be a gritty guy with experience in the league. Someone who isn't phased by pressure or scared to get physical.
So IMO, it's either both, or keep it the way it is.

I think everything starts with post defense. If you play good post defense then that allows for better perimeter defense. Better defense means more fast breaks and easy shot opportunities increasing your FG% while your lowing your opponents fg% by playing good solid defense. In otherwords im saying defense can create offense but offense doesnt really create defense. Usually better defensive teams wins championships.

I like Camby, but he didn't exactly put the clamps down on Boozer last night.

Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood would make us a championship team. Reports have Butler/Haywood for, essentially, Al Harrington. Swap Booz for Harrington and the Wiz are getting a better player in the deal, Harrington and Jamison are too similar, and the jazz get the two pieces they need to make a real legitimate run. Millsap and Memo play far better when Booz is out. All they would have to do is make up Boozers 20 points between them to replace Booz's production. Which they've proven they can do.
Williams/Price/Sunny G
Brewer/Mathews
Butler/Korver
Millsap/AK
Memo/Haywood
Which would give us a strong defensive line-up of
Williams
Brewer
Ak
Milsap
Haywood
I think this lineup would help us a lot more against teams like the Lakers and Denver.

Here's what I see in Camby: a help defender who gets a lot of blocks and rebounds.
He's not a great lockdown, man-on-man defender. He's just not strong enough. As an example, I think you'd be better off putting Boozer on Dwight Howard rather than Camby.

I disagree VERY strongly here. I don't think Memo and Millsap have proven anything of the sort. Millsap had two very strong games against inferior big men and a whole bunch of games where he's looked timid and overmatched; Memo has been wildly inconsistent.
If the Jazz trade Boozer now it's because they don't think they're contenders.

What makes Butler worth it? The way I see it, his stats don't come close to adding up to his contract.
Haywood is the only one I want out of that team. The problem with him is that he will be getting a big pay increase next year.

The 3 years prior to this year he average around 20 points, 6 boards and 2 steals. Easily worth his contract. It would be a bit of a gamble because he seems to be fairly injury prone.

Millsap only had two strong games to prove it if you discredit the 40 games he spent proving it last year, while injured. Plus I'd hardly say Dallas has inferior big men. I'll give you the Kings tho for sure.
Also, look at these number. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/gamelog?playerId=3015
20 and 7 vs. Spurs
19 and 7 vs. OKC
14 and 5 vs. Orlando
18 and 4 vs. Charlotte
20 and 4 vs. Orlando
And none of those teams can be said to have inferior big men. Well.. Tyson Chandler is worse than inferior offensively, but defensively he is one of the better big men in the league.
Millsap put up Boozer-esque numbers in limited minutes, without having plays run through him, and all the while playing better defense.
You're spot on about Memo tho. However, he has been far better defensively.
If the Jazz were able to make up Boozers production through Millsap, Memo, Butler and Haywood then this trade makes us a better team. Thats 20 points and 10 rebounds between 4 players. Defensively Boozer is a wash out, so it could even be argued that with our increased defense we would be chipping into the offensive production lost in Boozers departure. Even with Boozers increased defensive play this year he is still atrocious.

We still need a defensive big, its been nice having Okur, but his production this year is spotty at best. Trading him for a defensive center would be what I'd like. We need defense and one could argue that all of our frontline is performing very well (either offensively or defensively) except for Okur, who is doing neither.

Boozers man to man defense has increased substantially. Especially the Karl Malone type waist high strip, but his help defense could possibly be worse than ever. Maybe it just seems worse with AK and his defense on the floor more, but it sure seems to have gotten worse. I'm dreading any match up of Odom and Booz tonight. Odom relishes playing against Booz, as do most bigs in the league. eg: Any Denver big men.
That being said, perhaps I am just being ignorant and haven't really watched Booz as closely on D as I should. Maybe I am just assuming his D is still as bad as always.(Waist High Strip being the exception)
I'll pay close attention tonight and gladly eat crow if he proves me wrong.

How serious do you think Greg Miller or the Jazz are about being the best since the statues and being a title contender?
If they're they bite the bullet on this one season and make moves and see if this core with some help can push the Lakers.
I would offer up Washington Fes and CJ for Haywood or if they still feel CJ has upside they can offer up Korver or if they are crazy and want to spend 10 mil they can trade Fes and the exemption for Haywood.
If we were the Yankees I would trade for Martin and use the trade exemption to get Haywood. I think that team could push the Lakers.
