Roger Mason for CJ Miles?

Post#1 » by carrottop12 » Tue Feb 16, 2010 2:33 am

Spurs are looking to trade Roger Mason.

Spurs yet a young guy who could continue to develop. And a little help for Ginobili off the bench. Also he moves closer to home which may help maturity.

Jazz get capable back up point guard who can shoot the three, and he expires this season so Jazz get cap relief going into next year.

gives the Jazz 3 point guards for a wing with talent though admittedly stupid in Miles. Mason can shoot but small for SG and complaing about playing time in SA and probably gets about the same time here.

Mason is a very capable back up PG and played it quite a bit last year when Tony Parker was hurt and filled in nicely.

He's an upgrade to Ronnie Price, no doubt about that.

Plus the Jazz clear up their wing dilemma going to a rotation of Brewer/Korver and AK/Matthews, plus the Jazz get increased three point shooting. Also get an experienced player who has been in the playoffs.

It actually gives us 4 pgs, 3 of which are average at best.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw the wiretap. It would be an excellent trade from the Jazz standpoint. He can play point guard but is best as a shooting guard. He would definantly have a pretty significant role on this team and would make Korver easier to loose.

How is Korver hard to lose? Korver doesnt play at all right now. If he was waived we wouldnt miss him. Understand me, I think he should play, but sloan doesnt. As such, trading korver is no loss except paying him.

Korver not playing has more to do with his injuries this year, coupled with being an expiring, than it does anything else. Korver is a valuable trade asset, unless he gets injured. Look at Foster. Lots of teams had interest before he got injured. Now? Nothing. If Korver is still on the team next week he will get more minutes.

What Miles hasnt been traded yet? Trading CJ is addition by subtraction.

I think we did the right thing matching the offer sheet but it is time to move on. Brewer and Ak47 are the starters and we have Matthews and Korver off the bench. FYI I dont see why people want to trade either Brewer or Korver. The chances of both resigning in the offseason are high.

I was hoping we would trade CJ for a future 1st to either Miami (for TPE) or Memphis without adding salary but if not then trade him for whatever we can get.

I dont think we need Mason but I wouldnt be against it but doubt SA wants CJ.

We are not getting the "defensive big" we were hoping for so how about trading CJ to the Bucks for Kurt Thomas? The guy is done but we:

1. Rid ourselves of CJ's salary for the next couple of years
2. Open court time in our wing rotation.
3. Obtain a froutcourt thug for 8-12 mins a game in the playoffs who will atleast try to play some D.

100% agree with this. I hope he is traded for whatever future pick you can get.

You people apparently don't follow what's going on on the court. The Jazz have been a good defensive team this year. Their DRTG has been in the top 10 most of the season. Until recently, it was their offense holding them back. Now with Memo heating up, AK playing agressively, Boozer AND Millsap going at their best etc, we look basically unstoppable.

Dont count your chickens before they hatch. Lets see what happens after he gets back from the birth and not to mention basically unstoppable couldnt be the Kob/Bynum-less Lakers.

Teams that are jostling for playoff spots in the west will VERY rarely trade with each other. Why would the Jazz want to help the spurs, or the spurs want to help the jazz. GMs are always afraid of getting the worst of a deal, but possibly making a rival better? Thats a nightmare.

Would you take Mason and Dyess for Okur?

Or Mason and Dyess for Price and Korver?
