Clipper's Management performed two duties for the price of one today.
The Clipper players (Camby included) and Clipper fans both got the shaft from a stupid trade w/ Portland today.
Really Mike? That was all you could get for a grizzled old pro that came to work everyday & was a positive mentor to his younger team mates.
Thanks Marcus Camby, you gave the Clippers & their fans 1 & half season of dedicated service, honesty & integrity. You have come along way since Toronto drafted you. Thanks for allowing me to cheer you on in a Clipper uniform. Hopefully you get a ring & then come back to the Clips and end your career in style. Thanks

Re: Marcus Camby Appreciation Thread
Marcus is the kind of person and player that every team (well, most teams) would want to have. The guy is the definition of hustle, effort and consummate professional. He's the oldest guy on the team by far, but the most likely to be diving on the floor for loose balls. He showed the younger guys what it is to be a person of great character; to give your all because it's the right thing to do. He was a true mentor and they all looked up to him. He was a big brother to most and probably like a father figure to others.
The fans loved his commitment. Things started off rough since he was blindsided by Denver, and then he started the season injured. Once the remnants of those hindrances wore off, he became one of the things to like most about this team. He quickly became one of my favorite Clippers in franchise history. The fact that he desired to come back and hated to leave, just further shows the admirable nature of his that many of us have come to appreciate. He will be truly missed.
Thank you Marcus. The best to you, now, and for the years to come.

I'd just like to thank Marcus for all he did. He was able to keep us in games with out scoring the ball. I was thrilled when I heard that we acquired Camby because I knew what kind of player he is. You will truly be missed here Marcus.
And if you can find it in your heart to come back we will welcome you back with open arms.

I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Marcus, you've been my favorite Clipper since you arrived on this team. Watching you has taught me so much about the game that I hadn't known to look for before.
For me, you were the star of so many games. Your heart and spirit and hustle have been tremendously important and kept us all in games we would otherwise have let go of. Your skills are so deft, so fine, and span the whole range of what is measured and what is not measured. You helped your teammates in many ways we saw, and more ways than we will ever know --- you have a splendid team spirit and are an inspiration to so many people.
I always watch for players who end games with numbers in every category --- it's hard to do and there aren't that many who can do it. You are a master of it --- blocks, rebounds, points, steals, assists. And so much, much more.
There's nothing I ask for in a player that you don't have.
Thank you for giving so much. Thank you for being exactly who you are, on and off the court. Thank you for all the joy you have brought to me and to so many Clipper fans.
I'm crushed that you have to leave. I will try to catch a Portland game whenever I can so I don't entirely lose the pleasure of watching you in action.
All the very best to you, always. Wherever you go in your life, whatever you do in the future, I hope it all unfolds beautifully for you, with enormous amounts of joy and satisfaction. You deserve it.

Re: Marcus Camby Appreciation Thread
Before I came to LA became a Clippers fan around 10 years ago, I used to be a Knicks fan, well at least Knicks were my favorite team. And since then I really liked Marcus Camby a lot.
I was very happy when we acquired him from Denver, and since the beginning of the season I really hoped he would remain as a Clipper for as long as he plays basketball.
Now, I really hope that he somehow comes back to Clippers at the end of the season.
He deserved better...

Re: Marcus Camby Appreciation Thread
Before tonight's game, Marcus said that he thought he played hard every night, and he thought his efforts were appreciated, but now he "guesses not." Kinda broke my heart to hear him say that, because the last thing he should feel is unappreciated.
This trade truly stings the most out of any I can remember. Marcus was my favorite Clipper, strictly because of his heart, his hustle, and his passion for the game. Clipper fans sure did appreciate it. Basketball fans in general appreciate it. And now, the fans in Portland will indeed appreciate it. Marcus deserves to be on a competitive team, a playoff team. Knowing that Marcus wanted to stay with the Clippers, I'm truly very sorry that the Clippers couldn't be that team. I wish him all the personal and professional happiness in the world-- the guy deserves it.

Re: Marcus Camby Appreciation Thread
Tis a damn shame. He didn't look too happy during the Clipper/Blazer game. I don't think he'll be resigning with them since they have Oden/Pryzbilla/LA. There's just no minutes for him next season, and with those types of comments he's making about not being appreciated I don't think he'd want to come back here.
I wish him the best and hope he stays healhty.

Thanks for the hard work, dedication, and professionalism. You made everyone on the team better, and it's going to be ugly to see how poorly Kaman will do now without you. Honestly though, you should be happy you're not on the Clips anymore; you now have a chance to make the playoffs, and hopefully move on to a championship contender. Hopefully your hard work will be rewarded.
