This is a huge huge huge game. Now I know you may say that it cant be huge between these 2 teams but its huge in the sense of finding out how we will play the rest of the year, win or lose. I think we couldve been a very solid team the rest of the year but the Howard injury may have been the final straw to break the camels back. He fit the system so well and the one thing we were missing was his speed, athleticism, and slashing ability. It opens up the whole floor. Thats why I was shocked when we picked up Harris instead of a guy who is fast & slashes. The question is are we garbage without Howard, were the Grizz just a horrible matchup for us, or is reality setting in and the adrenaline has worn off. The Grizz right now are a horrible matchup for us after the trades and the Howard injury, even moreso than some of the elite teams but we are also no doubt a lesser team without Howard and sorely miss what he brings.
Thats why the Livingston pickup was so interesting. He gives us a little of that even though its a different position and he doesnt bring that toughness of Howard. Still, we really needed a PG since Foye & Boykins kill the O alot of times by being shoot 1st guys. If we are still a solid team without Howard then we should win these games but if not then this will be a long end to the season even with the young guys playing. Last game was the 1st game where we became really boring like the team we had before the trade and no one wants to watch a losing team like that. I dont mind losing but let it be exciting with energy & hustle.
If Shaun does play well soon then he might has to start because I dont see him & Boykins being a great fit on the 2nd unit. In one case its perfect because its big & small together but on the flip side both guys want the ball in there hands. I think it would be better with Shaun starting and then Boykins & Foye together with Foye playing the 2 because he’s pretty basic at running the O. Thats probably a few games away though either way and thats only if Shaun has something left. Either way, it will be fun to see if Blatche can put up 30 & 10 on these guys tonight
