Absolutely brilliant analysis.

It's dead wrong, but excellent analysis.

Mike isn't just a stand-still jumpshooter. He can drive the ball, shoot of the dribble penetration and make himself available as a spot-up jumpshooter. He would fit our offense very well and likely be an 18 point scorer with very solid percentages here if given the minutes.

Morten is dead on, people always assume that Mike is nothing but a spot up shooter, that assumption wrong.

He creates his own shot pretty well with the use of the dribble. He can knock down the three, pull up for the midrange jumper and he can get to the hoop reasonably well too. He has good size, and his jumpshot IMO is one of the smoothest in the league. He has classic form and the rotation and arc is a thing of beauty.

To say he wouldn't help our team is mind boggling.

Cliff Levingston likes the idea of getting either Maggette or Miller for Nocioni and something else (small).

I'd like to see Meggette at SG for the Bulls, it would be nice to have a real threat of someone taking the ball to the hoop and not just for a layup, it "Could" make teams actually have to worry about covering the lane instead of over extending the defense on the outside shooters.

But... I would expect Meggette won't be traded till all other options are used up on trying to move Cattino's contract out of LA to free up some money. Who knows.. maybe Chicago is in "win now mode" to show some superstar that this team is close and may be a big SG that can put in 30 a night away. BTW.. .I'm not a fan of this player but he may be exactly what this team needs.

I am very excited to see what the next 7 weeks leading up to the trade deadline will hold.

This is the trade I like:

Incoming Players
Aaron Williams
Sam Cassell
Corey Maggette

Outgoing Players
Chris Duhon
Joe Smith
Andres Nocioni

Cassell will bring veteran leadership plus he's expiring, Magette fills big 2 position, and we clear enough salary to resign Ben &Deng without any problem. We can also resign Maggetee longterm if he opts out. It also opens up a lot of minutes for Tyrus/Noah.

Rotation:
Hinrich/Cassell
Magette/Gordon
Deng/Magette
Tyrus/Noah
Wallace/Gray

For $3 the kids can draw outlines of his head. Big money maker! :)

He's a big talker too, maybe he can keep Tyrus and Noah entertained as they grab some bench. :)

I see a Hinrich for Maggette (sign and trade) this summer. Clips get some PG security and allow Al Thornton to blossom at SF. Bulls get a three guard rotation of Gordon, Maggette, Duhon.

Then we hang on to Ben Wallace a whole year longer, so that he can eventually be dangled as an expiring for some block buster deal (which probably won't happen).

Meanwhile, Noah, TT and Gray develop and we either keep Joe Smith longer or find another Vet to balance the front court for a couple more years.

Gerald Green, but I'm not sure who we'd trade for him and if we could even re-sign him.

I'm thinking that we need to target a team that has a surprising young draft pick (or two) that it will be looking to re-up for big dollars in the same offseason that Ben Wallace's contract expires.

I'm thinking Portland is the ideal partner. They have a stockpile of big men and not enough p.t. to go around, and they're going to need an expiring contract when Brandon Roy and LeMarcus Aldridge both come up for re-negotiation. Ben's $15MM will come in handy then, and I'm guessing they'll be looking for veteran minutes off the bench come playoff time, considering how well they're doing right now.

Antawn Jamison

How about Antwan Jamison? He's a inside outside scorer who'd fit nicely next to J Noah/Gray/Thomas/Wallace

An interesting low-profile acquisition would be James Jones, who is leading the league in 3pt% right now.

#1

Andre Miller , Daequan Cook and Miami's unconditional 2008 1st round pick to the Bulls

#2

Ben Gordon to Miami

#3

Chris Duhon, Viktor Khyrapa , Smush Parker and Earl Barron ( all expiring contracts ) to Philadelphia

Why

Bulls get a true point that can properly run an offense and frees up this responsibility from Hinrich that plays off the ball offensively and takes on the opposing perimeter stud defensively . Bulls also get an instant offense big 3rd guard in Daequan Cook. Sefolosha and Curry round out the 5 guard depth . They also leave enough room to pay Deng and have flexibility with future contract requirements in with Thomas, Cook and Noah ( assuming they pan out and are worthy ) given that Andre Miller comes due for a presumably cheaper reneg next season

Heat run Gordon with Wade which frees them both up

Sixers cut a further $10M in cap space next summer to be $20M under before they pay AI , their draft pick and free agents - Duhon is a cheaper option than Andre Miller. Nice core of Dalembert, Smith, Young, Carney , Igoudala and Duhon with a likely high 2008 draft pick and big flexibility in cap space

^^ I just threw up a little in my mouth.

That trade is awesome for Miami; they get the best backcourt in the league. Bulls trade away a 20ppg scorer and a pretty good, cheap backup PG for a good but not great, almost-32-year-old pg to play alongside a pretty good but not great combo guard (Kirk) and a draft pick. No offense intended, truly, but:

You forgot that we also get Daequan Cook in addition to our mid first rounder from Miami ( maybe better )

Fact is we don't have a genuine point guard that is up to snuff to be a starter . Andre Miller is . And the thinking is that Kirk is more a Rip Hamilton off the ball/screens type where I believe he could be a much better scorer . Defensively , a Miller/Hinrich backcourt is tighter than a Nun's nasty.

Miller is a much better scorer than Duhon, can break down and create better which opens things up better for Noah, Thomas and Deng

Cook , with maturity and minutes , IMO , will end up being a 20ppg scorer in his own right . Everything I see of this guy screams out Michael Redd to me . In another season or so everyone will be creaming their jocks to get him

Yes it's a win for Miami now and Ben Gordon will flourish with a backcourt partner like Wade and vice versa. But I reckon we will make out OK even if Cook ends up 80% of Michael Redd and we get a mid 1st round draft pick to boot

I like the balance of our team better with these trades rather than one on one comparisons as most people fall into the trap of when considering trade scenarios plus I believe Miller is > than Duhon ( by a margin and in a position /skillset of real need ) and Cook and a mid 1st rounder , will in short time , equal or surpass Ben Gordon
