Still possible to reach it with him

Doubt you can deal Lopez into cap space. Stretching Omer is an interesting idea though, I hadn't considered that one.

The problem with stretching Omer now is that I believe you’d have to stretch the entire value of his last two years over the next five years. Better to wait one more year and then stretch his $3 M guaranteed salary for 2019-2020 over three years.

I'm not sure about that, but I would be surprised if you got stuck having to pick up more than the 3M next year.

That said, either way, if you had a chance at a premier target you really wanted, you'd deal with the less than ideal stretch/waive I think.

Bulls overestimating the talent they currently have and think the rebuild should be sped up. That's not good.

Plus, even if we were a desirable locale, I see basically no exciting free agent options. Even the RFA field is kind of crummy.

They aren't overestimating anything, you're just making assumptions to suit your biased agenda.

+1 Dez

No where in the video does anyone say "the bulls think". It was Woj's opinion....

I agree with everyone else that next year is the year to make a splash.

To me, we have to position ourselves for the possibility of a Kawhi/ Lebron pairing, in 2 ways.

1) Let's say the meeting with Pop doesn't go well. I would trade Lauri, LaVine, the #7 and #22 for Kawhi, IF Lebron is willing to come over now.

2) We hold the fort for this year, don't overspend on LaVine, and take our capspace into 2019 with a young core of Lauri, LaVine, Dunn, and the #7 pick.

The reality is that Lebron is going to sign 1 -year deals for the rest of his career and we have to be ready for him.

I'll say it again - the primary "splash" is not 2019, it's 2020 - A. Davis!

With respect to LeBron, consider this.

1) Assume he wants to play in the far weaker Eastern Conference. That would leave him with 14 teams, since Cleveland is out.
2) I really, really don't see him signing with the Magic, Nets, Raptors (because Canada), Celtics (because how?), Heat, Bucks, or Hornets.

That leaves the Knicks, Bulls, 76ers, Pacers, Wizards, and Pistons.
I personally only see him signing with one of those first three teams. It was obviously Philadelphia to me earlier, but if they keep Colangelo, that has to hurt their chances. I wouldn't give us more than a 10% chance at signing him, but I just think it's greater than the 0% that people seem to believe once you factor in that we're a big market team in the much more desirable Eastern Conference, with plenty of cap space.

Not there is any real news or insight from Woj here he, for some reason, is typically wrong or misinformed when it comes to the Bulls and somehow correct on literally everything else.

Other than LeBron, I don't want Bulls to be talking to any free agents.

We already have ton of players as it is. Maybe not 2018 summer but in summer of 2019, if we are right there around playoff teams then yes go after guys like Anthony Davis etc.

But as of now, don't even try. Let the young guys develop and go from there.

Well yeah... I am bored, and i can tell so are many here. We have to get the kicks from anything. Finals are ruined, still two weeks to wait for the draft night... So we play fantasy manager. 8-)

I like that the Bulls have changed the identity of the team so quickly from 'older core of players with poor chemisty' to 'young likable group with promise'. I do think the perception has changed a bit and there is some attraction to come to Chicago. But lets be serious, as much as I like Lauri's potential, he has a long way to go before other players see him as a destination star that players want to play with.

Anyways, don't **** this up Bulls...be patient. You did pretty good with phase 1. Don't skip to phase 3 and in turn shut the door to phase 4 by signing a second tier star.

Optimistically next season, the Bulls could be attractive to FA's IF:

1) Lauri develops
2) Dunn shows he isn't a ball hog.
3) Lavine same
4) Bulls don't draft MPJ
