Another negative of dealing a star who is popular league-wide.

No chance anyone on the current Olympic team ever signs here.

Hell of a way to start your rebuild.

There was little to no chance of that happening before the Butler trade.

No. Stop saying this stuff. It's the end to their potential. Why did Wolves dump LaVine knowing he would be a great player? LOL

Well for one Wiggins and him are both best as two guards, although Wiggins plays 3 better than Lavine plays the #1 and Rubio was a key stirrer of their offense. It was a duplicity move imo and butler is short term much better

Being a third option offense based guy for a upcoming team usually isn't the safest role on the team, just like harden and probably others when teams have a glut of scoring.

I'm not saying he's a sure thing but he can be better than prime Ben Gordon.

Nope. This is a joke. Prime Ben Gordon was getting 40+ points in the playoffs, engineering come back wins, and getting clutch baskets consistently. LaVine is not doing that.

LaVine was better last year than Gordon ever was...with plenty of development to go. Keep those see red tinted glasses on though, the Ben Gordon love never ends.

Terrible trade but LaVine has AllStar potential nevertheless assuming a recovery from his injury.

I think some of you should be saving the anti-Lavine quotes for a few months from now. I guarantee you're going to love him. There are people on the Wolves board who mentioned trading Wiggins to make room for Lavine to be "the wing" for the Wolves. Assuming he gets the green light on the Bulls, the dude is going to light other teams up.

Dennis Smith Jr. had a reconstructive acl surgery and look at him now. Still an elite athlete.

This. But they've actually got pieces resembling assets now instead of an aging Butler and a dumpster fire.

Because LaVine would have done stuff that Rookie Ben Gordon did. I would have seen it.

I know you guys don't want to hear this right now, but trust me, Zach Lavine is going to be great for you guys. Tremendous work ethic, he came into the league as an athletic freak with a suspect jumper & this season he was on pace to shatter the Timberwolves single season 3 point record until he got hurt.

He's a gym rat, he's cocky as hell, but he's got game to back it up. Once he's 100% healthy, he's going to be a fan favorite and hopefully someone you can build around. The only thing is his defense is BAD, real bad.

Just a few games to show you his offensive repertoire. Great form, jumps high on it & pulls up off the dribble like a savage.

I don't know what to say about Dunn though, I never liked his style of play, his defense reminds me of Tony Allen/Marcus Smart, maybe his offense can pick up & they can be a great back court for you guys, but he was really bad on the Wolves last year.

I'll tune in to some Bulls games and hope Zach becomes one of the best 2 guards in the L.

About Lavine, maybe you can look at him like Thibs developed him. If you saw him play last season he played at 110% every game. If he gets over his injury he could be a breakout player, he was looking like one last season

I. Can't. Even. :banghead:

I'm in an abusive relationship with GarPax. They're awful, but every time I say I'm leaving, I come back.

I'm a huge Butler fan for his talent, hard work, consistency and dedication to the team, but that's just one reason I can't find anything right about this trade. Although I don't agree, I understand the blowing things up theory. But doing it by throwing away your prime age all-star/best player for an injury-prone one, one that averages 3.8/game and an untested one is AWFUL. More players doesn't mean better team, SMH. What future free agents want to go to Chicago for Dunn and risky Lavine?

No, he didn't. He was still engineering come backs and clutch baskets consistently. LaVine didn't do that. I would have been excited as hell for pre-ACL LaVine and declare that the Bulls won the trade hands down.

Appreciate the comfort, but after Rose, any time I hear 'once he gets healthy again' I want to scream into a pillow

Please. Just don't. Go back to the Wolves board. Can't be a great player with ACL tear and bad defense. He will not get better under Hoiberg. You guys won the trade. Why are you here? To put an ice bag on our black eyes?

In my 35 years watching the Bulls I cant remember getting a superstar free agent in their prime here anyways, Chicago is not a NBA FA destination. That factors into why they need to dig into the lottery than build like the past Lakers. Bulls needed to split Butler into more assets because having only one was way too risky. One injury or if he leaves would leave the Bulls in the biggest hole you can imagine, almost as bad as the post 6th title Bulls

Lavine is a good scorer, but he tore his acl on his best leg, the left one, the one he takes flight on. Let's see how it goes for him

Good for him he's more of a shooter though, but his slashing is part of his game
