Contracts can be shed. Teams do it all the time.
Just saying they have no foundation.. not youth.. no real assets, no real talent, not sure if they even have all their own picks coming.. It just looks bad to me.
I understand. But ny is not a place where complete rebuilds are accepted very well. Especially not for a new gm who is a "legend" in the league and comes with high expectations. Finally, the of a front office is to make money...and if you can win a championship doing it better yet. Melo is a draw. Who else would fans come to see?
Melo may be a "draw" but NY doesn't need a draw, nor do they need to win to make money. Before Melo was there they had sellouts. When Melo was hurt they had sellouts. And guess what.... They haven't won **** in over 30 years. They haven't even been close since Jordan retired the 1st time and JVG was trying to breakup fights. The concept of the Knicks as a "premier franchise" is laughable. They are in the biggest market, and have been the only team in that market, that is why they get attention. When Melo first went there he said some **** about bringing NY back to glory... He wasn't even alive when they won. It's all jokes.
The Knicks should do a complete rebuild. Fans would still attend the games. What they have been doing has not been working, yet they want to keep trying it... We call that insanity. I have family who has season tickets, extensive lower level season tickets, and they don't want Melo re-signed for big money. If he takes a discount they are OK with it, but otherwise they are fine with seeing him walk. They know that no matter what they aren't winning rings in the next few years, so they would rather a rebuild. I know, I know, logical, rational Knick fans... A rarity.
