Hayes looked rough; kind of an "oh oh, did we really draft this guy top-10." Of course 1 preseason game, he'll get better - he's young, crafty, and he can pass. But the foot-speed, turnovers and lack of impact were all red-flags for me. Weaver also seemed to build the worst possible team around him. The Pistons' FG% is going to resemble an MLB batting average. Curious how Deni and Okoro will look.

Hayes always required you to talk yourself into him a little but imo. But we shall see.

1. First elite athlete we’ve drafted since Jimmy, where you can tell he has a size, power and speed advantage over most the league. GarPax have been drafting guys fit for the Euroleague, not NBA playoffs. Even Hutchison, he’s at best a Danny Green type (and he’ll never dream of shooting as well). Looked like a rag doll compared to Daniel House and even Nwaba.

2. He’s not gonna cross-over wings and guards and get to the rim; at least, not yet. But the shot-off-dribble and post is butter.

3. Which leads to... we need to be patient. I don’t mind him coming off the bench. I can see him starting sooner or later, cause he is the best all-around talent on the team. But he needs to develop. Thank god he’s in Donovan’s hands.

Jimmys nowhere elite. Rose is. cross over and not defending perimeter is overblown. this guy has a mans body and all muscle with kawhi lite jumper. total stud unlike Butler who had to work other aspects bc his jumper sucked.

Jimmy Butler has elite strength at his size. Even coming into the league as a rookie he had the body strength to defend LeBron and Kobe. His strength and ability to finish through contact is upper echelon as well.

After PWs first game and believing trades will come and more playing time... he could be in the running for ROY.

Depends on when the trades come. But I actually like switching him and OPJ. The starters need a lower usage glue guy with a defensive mindset. The Bench needs could use a high usage scorer with Coby starting.

Let OPJ efficiently bumslay second units in the role he would play for a contender. Then flip him.

I’d drink some cheap champagne to that. All night long, for that matter.

It's cool that those two are tight and Coby offered for him to live with him his rookie season.

Also BD already echoed my point about it being a process. He said its may look really ugly at first tearing things down and building it up, but if they all do it together as a team, it will be worth it.

I know it’s only one Pre-season game. But PWill has a good shooting form from the midrange and some good moves in the paint for the one handed shots. He played more poise then a typical rookie.

Hopefully that’s the plan. I want Pat Will to eventually start.

I would imagine that the plan is to start him eventually. Don't think we drafted a guy we feel will be a two way player just to have him sit.

I'm not pushing PW as a starter. Let him come off the bench and play against other benches to let him continue to gain confidence and improve.

He's the youngest player in the NBA, no need to throw him to the wolves.

Just in those clips? He went off about the mid range game at least twice.

Assuming your question is actually a statement, I agree with you. Plus, Willy is kind of frontcourt/wing combo version of Coby White (except destined to be a starter). A perfect role for him, this year, is a combo sub at the 3/4 getting significant minutes. This will also facilitate trying some lineups with Lauri at the 5.

His defensive instinct in college is already solid. Makes me really excited to see him do this as a Bull.
