I think if anything, the league is proving with this second apron, that no team wants to be in it.
Boston fresh off a title, said no thanks.
Even if they would have won the title this year, the new ownership was thinking about cutting down the salary. So I think these moves would have happened regardless of Tatum's injury. But with the injury, it made the perfect excuse to not just trim, but burn it all down.
I say this in relation to the Bulls.
We don't even want to pay the luxury tax much less a tax apron.
So our books have to be special not just good. The ownership treats us like we are the smallest market in the league. Unfortunate, but we cant do anything about it.
We have to have 1 maybe 2 players, that get less than market value. That or draft a guy who is playing far above his pay grade. That is the only way to progress the team.
The only real opportunity for that is getting Giddey back on a fantastic deal. Or Coby Ayo etc. If we pay them market rate, our team is more than likely to be stuck in a middle matrix.
