why are you so triggered by the mere suggestion of racism? "NASCAR hoax"? what a weird comment. a hoax requires intentional misleading, which there is absolutely no reason to believe was going on here. shortly after successfully pushing for the removal of confederate flags from NASCAR event, the only black driver in the series is assigned a garage that happens to have a rope fashioned like a noose hanging in it...what would you think if you were bubba wallace in that situation? assume that it's just a weird coincidence and not report it? of course not. it just so happens that it WAS a weird coincidence
the same evidence that proves it was not done to terrorize wallace also proves that his response was not a "hoax." for if it was a hoax, that would require wallace's team to KNOW that the rope had been there since well before his garage assignment. which, of course, they couldn't have. if they wanted to create a false flag scenario, they could have done a whole lot better. so you're promoting a conspiracy theory that (like almost all of them) doesn't withstand the basic logic test. use yer noggin
the president of the united states shamelessly dog whistles racists for a reason. because there are enough of them to make the blowback worthwhile. there are enough of them for racism to still be codified in law in america
-as of 2002, 39% of white respondents did not disagree with the notion that blacks should not go anywhere they are not wanted
as of 2014, for white respondents:
-18% still disapproved of a relative marrying a black person
-29% disapproved of laws prohibiting a homeowner from refusing to sell to someone based on race
-23% thought that whites are more intelligent
-19% would be opposed to living in a neighborhood where half the neighbors are black
-there has always been very little support among whites for affirmative action, even though it is obviously true that the average black person has more to overcome to achieve the same as the average white person
the SITTING PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES:
-was once sued for refusing to rent to black people. by richard nixon's justice dept.!
-has also installed "white nationalists" in prime administration posts, including one who is currently pulling the strings on immigration policy
-advocated the death penalty for the "central park five", who were convicted but later absolved due to DNA evidence. trump has not only refused to apologize, but continues to say he believes they are guilty
-a former trump's castle employee says that when donald and ivana came to the casino when he worked there in the '80s, black employees were ordered off the floor
-is the nation's most prominent birther
-built a campaign on birtherism and building a wall to keep out mexican immigrants, who are "rapists bringing crime and drugs"
-as a candidate, called for a ban on all muslims entering the US
-as president argued that a judge should recuse himself from the trump university case because of his mexican heritage
-has attacked athletes silently protesting systemic racism
-called haiti and african nations "****hole countries"
-is according to one study much more likely to be supported by those who most deny the existence of racism and those most hostile toward the opposite sex
-is according to another study more likely to be supported by those who are told that america will be less than 50% white in 20 years
-according to yet another study his supporters were much more likely to change their views on housing policy depending on whether the subtle image featured on the form was of a black man or a white man. these racial cues did not significantly change the opinions of hillary clinton supporters
“Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day. … I think that the guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault, because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that. It’s not anything they can control.” - donald trump, according to john o'donnell, former president of trump plaza hotel/casino
"the stuff o'donnell wrote about me is probably true" - donald trump, 1997 playboy interview
"our glorious leader and ULTIMATE SAVIOR has gone full-wink-wink-wink to his most aggressive supporters" - andrew anglin, white supremacist writer at daily stormer, referencing trump's retweeting of "white genocide" accounts
"[charlottsville rally] meant to fulfill the promises of donald trump" - david duke
current occupant of oval office aside, we've come a long way as a nation. but we've got a long way to go. there are still a large number of racist americans. there just aren't many who are so dumb as to be overt about it:
